Yachtsman is a gelding rated 60 who has already shown he can be competitive off this mark. Notably, he finished second in a Wolverhampton all-weather handicap over today’s trip after travelling strongly and only giving best late within two lengths. He also placed in similar company, staying on well from just off the pace. Those runs confirm the surface and distance suit him and that today’s weight is workable based on proven form. He tends to perform best when allowed to settle and build into the race rather than being rushed early, which looks likely again here. With the market implying a realistic but not dominant chance, there are solid reasons to expect him to run to that level again and be involved late.

She’s had a nice ten-week break, is trained at a top yard, has a strong jockey booking, and her handicap mark of 65 is attractive.
