Operation Gimcrack is a gelding rated 60 who has shown he can operate at this level, notably when finishing second in a Southwell all-weather handicap over today’s trip after travelling well and being beaten by under two lengths, and again when running a close third in similar company off a comparable weight. Those runs confirm he handles the surface and distance and that today’s mark is workable. His better efforts have come when able to settle and build into the race rather than being forced early. Conditions today mirror those stronger performances. With evidence he can hit the frame off this rating and scope to improve back under ideal circumstances, there are clear reasons to expect a more competitive run.

Moyowasi is a gelding rated 58 who has already shown he can compete off this mark, notably when finishing second in a Southwell all-weather handicap over today’s trip after travelling strongly and being beaten under two lengths, and again when running third in similar company, having stayed on well late. Those efforts confirm he handles the surface and distance and that today’s rating is workable. With conditions again matching his stronger runs and a race setup that should allow him to settle and finish off, there is a solid case for him to run to that level again and be involved late.

RUSHEEN BOY has won his share for the Fielden's and looks likely to run a decent race once again. Has a good record here at Southwell and although 6f could be judged his ideal distance, he clearly stays a mile, and so this 7f should be fine. The yard are in form, which is noted, and an 8-week break may not be a bad thing. What is a question is the removal of the blinkers but a change is often a catalyst to a big run.

This trip and surface should suit much better than recent runs, and the handicap mark looks workable if he puts it all together. This is a tough race, though. Can see it being a battle.

Act of Violence is wearing first-time eyeshields and Hollie Doyle has been booked to ride, which hopefully means that a good run is imminent. Is on a low mark and could find the improvement needed.

FLASH THE DASH has long seen better days and this is his level now. Looks to have as good a chance as any here and his price might be slightly generous. Seems to be equally effective at 6f and 7f and my hope today is that the step back up a furlong with headgear removed will spark the necessary length or so needed for the win. The yard had a decent winner here on Tuesday.

Simply Blue, has had 2 starts this year, first start off the year he finished 6th/12 runners, which was not a bad run tbh, he made up alot of ground to come flying home for that 6th place finish, from last place. We can drawn line under his last run... Simply Blue has ran in some stronger races than this, and the mark of 58 looks handy. He is 6lbs below his last winning mark, and this looks like a contest he can go close in, over his favourite trip off 7f.

Six of Diamonds was a decent third here in Sept off a 46 at 7f. Although a bit down the pack a couple of weeks ago here at 6f off the same mark, I think the return here today off a 44 and back at 7f could put him in with a chance EW.
