5:15 Nottingham Tips

The 4yo has been a little below par this year but has now dropped to an attractive mark and he ran a nice race 10 days ago, 5th of 19 in a better handicap than this one and his draw that day in stall 1 wasn't ideal. On his final start last year he lost by a head while racing off a 10lb higher mark in a class 4 contest. Six of these seven rivals were very poor last time out.

Course and distance winner last year. Runner-up over course and distance last time and can win here. Raised just 1 lb. My NB selection.

Not done much since moving to new connections, but suspicion that brakes have been on. Will run well if allowed to in this handicap.

An each-way chance is taken on Dark Kestrel who ran a good third under today`s jockey on turf on his penultimate start. A lot relies on a decent break break though.

Loquella can go well in the 5:15 at Nottingham after showing promise in recent starts. She looks to be progressing with experience, and today's conditions could suit. With further improvement likely, she has every chance of taking another step forward and landing this contest

Southern Warrior has his first run for his new stable today. He is back on his last winning mark. Warren Fentiman takes the ride, which is a positive in my eyes over less experienced claimers of late. His win at Newcastle off 67 has looked stronger given the form of the runner-up, Mighty Vega, who won next time out and has since been raised 7 lbs. At 50/1, he looks to be a value bet in my eyes.
