Star Of Guiting won twice here earlier in the year before running in the Imperial Cup at Sandown. The ground was way too soft at the Esher track, so it was no surprise to see him pulling up. He is back on much better ground here, on a track that suits him very well. He's an improving five-year-old who can concede the weight to mainly inferior rivals.

This horse was sent off odds-on for a very similar contest last time out when chasing a hat-trick of wins, where the bad ground found him out. He's back on better ground now, though, and it's crazy that after being odds-on last time out we are now getting 8/1. He was placed on his only previous run over C&D, which was in this race last year. He's higher in the weights now but is a much improved horse from 6yo to 7yo, and he can get back on track again here, having been given enough time to get over that effort on bad ground last time out.

Most recently, he achieved 3rd place at Ayr earlier this month in a 2m race and has proven winning experience at Musselburgh, where he won over a similar distance in January 2025. With four places available, I consider his 50% career top-three finish rate to make him a strong each-way candidate at favourable 12/1 odds.

The market has seen his uninspiring recent form and dismisses him at 28/1. However his dormant back-class proces he possesses ability well above his basement mark of 102. Crucially, he escapes desperate winter mud today, returning to a much sounder Good-to-Soft surface. We are being heavily compensated by the 28/1 price to find out if the better ground sparks a revival.
