Lover Desbois is a grey 5-year-old son of Beaumec de Houelle out of Rose Hever. On his racecourse debut he finished fourth at 11/1 behind Bass Hunter (13/8f) by Authorised at Newbury last November. The winner and runner-up have both won since that day, and Bass Hunter's win was at Listed level at Ascot. He'll now be ridden by Mr F. Maguire for H. Derham. He drops in class here to a Class 5 race. I think he can open his account here, and I make him my Nap of the day.

Sassella Storm is a 5yo gelding trained by Jim Boyle. He makes his second career start after wind surgery, and it's hoped the experience of a previous run could show him in a better light. He is out of a listed-winning dam called Sassella, who won on the flat twice in France over 12f on heavy ground and posted an RPR of 102. She was also a half-sister to some smart flat performers who posted RPRs of 108, 109 and 117 and went on to win in group company. Sassella Storm's debut run wasn't devoid of promise. He raced prominently for much of the contest only to weaken in the latter stages under today's jockey, Dylan Johnston. The wind surgery may have been advised by the jockey, perhaps hearing Sassella Storm taking a blow late.on in peocessings, and wind surgery could bring about enough improvement to feature in today's contest.

Eternity Rose showed some promise with a 3rd, then a decent 4th at Warwick despite being too keen last time. No mark yet, but is dropped in class on going where he's placed before. The Fern O'Brien family team strike well at 15%, so has a chance here in an open-ish race.

Henrietta C. Knight operates at times under the radar, and she has the useful conditional jockey Freddie Gordon in the saddle. He may be thinking the best way to play this race is from the front. He can get the tactics right up front, and, being by Getaway, he can have the substance to be seen.

Testing Patience is a 6-year-old gelding yet to break his maiden but showed promise on debut, finishing third at Larkhill. With only one run under his belt, he could improve sharply with experience. Place potential looks solid.

Soldier In Defence catches the eye on pedigree. She is by Soldier of Fortune and out of the same mare who produced St James Finest, who won a nice bumper a week ago for the Skeltons. He could run well at a big price.
