Jamesieconn has won his last three races. The first of those came at Newcastle off a mark of eighty-seven to win by a neck. He was then raised seven pounds but still did the business at Carlisle to win by a head. He then went up a pound and won by a couple of lengths at Carlisle. Today he has gone up another five pounds, but the way he is holding form, a four-timer is not beyond the realms of possibility. Ground conditions are not a concern, as he has won on good and good-to-soft ground. He has the same jockey onboard today as he has had in his last three races. He stays in Class 5 company on his first visit to Hexham.

Should be winning this. Comes into every finish looking like he is going to compete with the leaders, and his mistakes always end up costing him. If Streamsforth Lad stays on all fours and actually competes, he should be in the mix at the finish, albeit in a weakly run race. That shows how much he should have in hand when able to come from the rear.

Muroor is a speculative bet today, but he should not be at odds of 100/1 for this event. He was beaten just a neck over CD in May last year on good ground (Dr Shirocco was 8 lengths behind him). That was after finishing 5 lengths fifth over CD the time before on good to soft. His next start came too soon. One below-par run, then his last two starts have been on very slow ground. He is 13 years old and out of the handicap, yet still has claims on those last two CD runs. The race lacks strength in depth, and plenty of these rivals have something to prove. If he puts his best foot forward today after being freshened up from a break and returned to optimum conditions, he will not be far away. With a five-place payout he has to be worth an each-way try at the price.
