Dan Skelton has his horse running well. A Pai De Nom has been out twice this season. He started with a win at Newcastle in a class four race and followed that up with a second in a class three race, also at Newcastle. He again races in a class three race and in what appears a very competitive opening to the Cheltenham November meeting, a top five finish is not out of the question.

Last season the Jennie Candlish trained Broderick ran eight times, winning once. In those eight races he only finished outside the top five once. He is now four pound lower than when winning his race in January earlier this year. On that day it was Sean Quinlan who rode him to victory and he is back on board today. The ground conditions should be the same or at the very least similar to that which he won on the last time he travelled to Newcastle.

Cheltenham may not be Jonbon's ideal track but he has won this race for the last two seasons. He is a prolific grade one winner. He is the class horse in the race and having had wind surgery providing Jonbon jumps well, he will have every chance of completing a hat-trick of wins in this race.

In the last twenty runnings of this race, no horse has come back and defended their crown. So the Paul Nichols-trained Il Ridoto appears to have it all to do to win this. Splash of Ginger won this race back in 2017 off a mark of one hundred and thirty-four, which is the same mark the Alan King-trained Es Perfecto races off. He won his first race of last season, and his final race saw him finish fourth in the Golden Millar Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. Es Perfecto has a good record on seasonal reappearances, winning twice and finishing no worse than fourth since moving to the Alan King yard about six years ago. His two seasonal returning wins came on good to soft ground, so conditions should be to his liking. All in all, he looks a live each-way shout.
