Al Aasy has won this race for the last two seasons. The first of those victories was by one length, and then last season he won by three lengths. He has raced twice this season, finishing runner-up at Newbury and then made no mistake next time out at Beverley, winning by one and a half lengths. He may be a nine-year-old, but a hat-trick of wins in this race still appears very possible.

There are two course-and-distance winners in this race: last year's winner Two Tribes and the progressive Far Above Dream. He has been seen three times this season, starting with two wins. Last time out he finished fourth in the Class Two Wokingham at Royal Ascot. Far Above Dream has raced three times over this course and distance and is yet to taste defeat. This appears to be his toughest test to date at Goodwood, but with his obvious liking for this course, Far Above Dream should maintain his unbeaten record over this course and distance.
