Been steadily progressive over hurdles and was a respectable 3rd at Wincanton two starts ago in a 15f novice. Made his handicap debut after a short break when 4th at Taunton last time, not helped by again taking a strong hold. Back in maiden company now, and if consenting to settle better he can improve again and go close.

Just a small play here as Venetia has a 21% strike rate with horses having their first run after a wind operation over the last five years, and there is not much to beat here for a horse that kept more exalted company when hurdling in France. They are returning from a year out, and jockey and trainer have no positive form at Exeter, but this is the type of scenario where I would kick myself for letting it go unbacked and then seeing it come in. Small play.
