This horse finished a good second on her comeback run at Pontefract in April. She has not been so good in two runs since but is now very well handicapped on a course she has won on previously. She appears to be best suited to stiff tracks. A good chance if she bounces back from two lesser efforts.

Is weighted to go well and down in grade. Has a long absence to overcome, but with the yard going well has a sound each-way chance.

Good 6f form as a 2-yr-old. Stepping back to that distance looks a good move after not seeing out 7f the last twice. Each-way contender back on turf.

At odds of 18/1, the each-way option stands out as value here. His stamina aligns perfectly with the demanding uphill finish, and the rain will ensure optimally softer ground. Plus, trainer Philip Makin is performing at a remarkable 33% winning rate.

A stiff six furlongs, and this can suit Surprised, who has shown he stays further. His career-best performance came over 7.5 furlongs at Beverley. An uphill finish and good going clearly suit. The dam, Augusta Ada, won on a similarly tough sprint track at Pontefract and was placed on her only visit to Carlisle.
