Le Grand Vert is better off at the weights than when third in this race last year to Cowboy Cooper. He followed that race with a return-visit win over course and distance last March. Although out of form since then, he obviously likes the trip over to Ayr from Ireland and could bounce back to form.

Nick Alexander's 7yo is on a mark he can win off if he can just cut out the mistakes. He's run two solid races over CD, and this will be only his fourth run over fences, so improvement is not out of the question.

Runner-up over a furlong further at Catterick last time out, where the front 3 pulled well clear of the other 9 runners. Just 2 pound higher today.

Torosay has finished in the first three places in half of her twelve outings over fences. Following her sole victory, the mare rose in the weights to an official rating of 98. Her mark has been dropping since, and she races off 90 today, the same mark as when she placed second over today's course and distance in November. A winner over three miles on heavy ground at Hexham, a test of stamina suits this mare. Gregor Walkingshaw takes over in the saddle, and his ten-pound allowance should make a difference today. Torosay can make the four places on offer at an each-way price.

Taking a swing here in what's an open heat (for perhaps all the wrong reasons!) at a moderate level. Although George Bewley's 8yo Milan gelding is yet to show much under Rules (pulled up in a C&D handicap chase here LTO), this is his second run after wind surgery, and he showed plenty of ability when four times a runner-up in Irish PTPs. There was more to like about his chase debut (also here over C&D, a year ago) with Brian Hughes aboard. It was better than the bare 16.5-length defeat would suggest ??' taken wide throughout, he wasn’t knocked about when outpaced around the home bend. Now 9 lbs below his mark that day, if he has any ability he should be making an impact here on this rating.
