Ballybow, who represents the powerful Gigginstown House Stud/Gordon Elliott partnership, has his third outing over the larger obstacles. His previous two runs were over shorter trips. Ballybow recorded his career-best hurdling run on the left-handed, undulating, galloping track at Naas, so Navan can suit. That run was a win in January last year, and he followed it by stepping up in distance and winning a Grade 3 hurdle on soft ground. This could be his time of year and could also produce a better chasing run today as he goes up to three miles in this beginners' chase on soft to heavy. The granddam produced the great Hurricane Fly. Sam Ewing, who is 2-3 on Ballybow, regains the ride.
