Catalunya Championship Tips

Rory McIlroy won The Masters last month and normally the world number 2 is one of the main contenders to win this Truist Championship.

Xander Schauffele was runner-up here in 2024 and 2023. He has had four top-ten finishes in his last six starts.

Matt Fitzpatrick has proved to be probably the best player in the world over the past couple of months and the most consistent. He has a couple of wins to his name and always turns up at the weekend.

Si Woo Kim has had a great season to date, and all that is missing is a win on tour. He has played well on this course in the past and arrives on the back of a top-five last week.

Min Woo Lee was 51st in this event last year. He has made the top ten three times this year: third in the Texas Children’s Houston, sixth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Sam already has a couple of top tens this year. Being one of the oldest of the ten on a course where that is a distinct advantage, he looks a good each-way shot.

Viktor has not been at his best, but he did shoot a last-round 66 last weekend. On a course that should suit his game even better, he can go well this week.

Tied 7th last year in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, and the American can go well at this course again this week in the Truist Championship. He has made his last four cuts, with 38th being his worst finish, and I am backing Ryan Gerard to go close at Quail Hollow.

The American was 7th last week at the Cadillac Championship, and that was after finishing runner-up at the Zurich Classic. He was 18th in his only appearance at Quail Hollow. I am backing Alex Smalley; he will have another good week at the Truist Championship.

Corey Conners was 30th last week at the Cadillac Championship. His best performance this year came at The Players Championship, where he finished in 13th place. He was 11th in this competition last year, 13th in 2024, and 8th in 2023.
