Viktor Hovland has been in very good form for a while now, and he might well contend here this week. If he is to do so, he needs a quick start on Thursday. He is out at a good time, and I am hoping he can take advantage.

Ryan Fox is a man who is out at 6:57 on Thursday morning, and I am hoping he can take advantage of that. He is often close to the top of leaderboards on round one and is an outsider with an early morning start.

Robert MacIntyre is another man with claims in this market. He is out at 7.19 on Thursday morning and will fancy himself to shoot a low round here. He might have the best of the conditions to do so.

Jordan Smith has played well all season and often plays well on opening day. He is out early at 7.52 and can shoot low early. He often hovers on the leaderboard in the early stages of most tournaments.

If Viktor is ever to win a major, in my opinion it will be The Open at some stage of his career. He has been playing well this season and has a win to his name a few weeks ago. This course should suit him, and he can give us a big run this week.

Patrick Reed often keeps his best for the big ones and is well used to courses like this. He went well in Scotland for a long way last week, and I expect him to contend in another major.
-

Adam Scott is an outsider. I think he might contend this week. He has not shown a lot so far this year, but he often contends in this major in particular, and I expect no different this year.

Michael Thorbjornsen played well enough in Scotland last week to give him an outside chance here. This has been a real breakout year for him, and he can contend in a major for the first time.
