  • Indian Superleague Format and Past Winners

The Indian Superleague was played for the first time in 2014. Each year the ten teams play each other in the league twice, once at home and once on the road. Each team plays a total of eighteen matches in the regular Indian Superleague season.

Once the regular season is complete the top four teams in the division advance to the Indian Superleague Play-Offs.

The  Indian Super League Play-Offs will see the team that finished first in the regular-season table play the team that finished fourth and the team that finished second play the team that finished third, over two legs, home and away. The aggregate score from each play-off semi-final will be calculated to see which teams make it through to the Play-Off Final.

The Indian Superleague Play-Offs usually take place in March of each year. In 2014 ATK finished 3rd in the regular season but went on to win the play-offs.

Chennaiyin also finished third in the regular-season table in 2015 but were victorious in the play-offs. ATK took their second Indian Superleague in 2016 but had only finished fourth in the regular season.

Chennaiyin matched ATK with a second title in 2017/18 but again had not finished top of the regular season table (they finished second) and in 2020, ATK claimed their third title despite finishing five points behind Goa in the regular season.
