- NBA free agency opens on June 30th, 2023.
- Former MVP James Harden may opt out of his contract and return to Houston.
- San Antonio, set to select Victor Wembanyama, is now a popular landing spot for free agents this summer.
NBA teams can officially begin negotiating with players on June 30th. The reality is that teams are already back-channeling, trying to gauge player/agent interest. Fold in the upcoming NBA Draft later this month, and there are a lot of moving pieces to consider. Sportsbooks are weighing in on where the top players will end up this summer. The bumper point guard class, in particular, has a chance to shake up the NBA's power structure. Here's a look at the top three free agent point guards and where oddsmakers believe they'll land for the 2023-24 season.
James Harden, Player Option With Philadelphia
Harden has a player option with the Sixers, to the tune of $35.64 million. But there are plenty of reasons to believe he could be on the move. Is there one last mega contract out there for the 33-year-old? Could he return to Houston where he won league MVP in 2018? And finally, the Sixers canned Doc Rivers after three seasons. Harden's relationship with Nick Nurse could be the determining factor this summer.

Kyrie Irving, Unrestricted Free Agent
Kyrie's talent is undeniable, but his recent track record with Brooklyn and Dallas has been nothing short of a trainwreck. His off-court distractions and mercurial temperament won't hamper this impending payday, but there certainly will be a few GMs who won't even entertain Irving this summer because of his baggage.

Fred VanVleet, Player Option With Toronto
The Raptor's FVV may not be in the same class as Harden and Irving, but he will command a lot on the open market should he choose to opt-out. He stands to make $22.8 million if he opts in for the final year of his contract with Toronto, but he's played at a higher level than that monetary figure in the past two seasons. He made his first All-Star game in 2022 and has averaged nearly 20 points and seven assists per game across the past two seasons.
