- It was revealed this week that Lamar Jackson requested a trade from the Ravens front office on March 2nd.
- The Colts, currently holding the fourth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, are a logical landing spot and have been priced accordingly (+225).
- The NFC South would be in the market for Jackson's services, with three of their four teams listed in the top six of potential suitors.
The Lamar Jackson off-season drama is just getting started as it turns out. It was revealed this week that the former MVP requested a trade from Baltimore earlier this month and that his departure is a foregone conclusion at this point. Where he ends up, however, is a larger question. Will the Ravens look to ship him out of the AFC altogether in the hopes of not facing their former star quarterback, or are they solely motivated by the picks and players they can receive in return for Jackson? Sportsbooks have weighed in on this, offering updated odds on Jackson's next team.
Lamar Jackson's 2023 NFL Team
Teams | Moneyline | Probability |
---|---|---|
Indianapolis Colts | +225 | 30.77% |
New England Patriots | +450 | 18.18% |
Atlanta Falcons | +600 | 14.29% |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +800 | 11.11% |
New York Jets | +900 | 10% |
Carolina Panthers | +1000 | 9.09% |
Washington Commanders | +1000 | 9.09% |
Tennessee Titans | +1000 | 9.09% |
Miami Dolphins | +1000 | 9.09% |
San Francisco 49ers | +1500 | 6.25% |
At this point, it seems unlikely that the Ravens would move him solely for picks, unless that trade partner was either the Carolina Panthers or the Indianapolis Colts. If the Ravens could move into the top five of the upcoming draft, they could select Jackson's replacement and build excitement around a new future. Carolina holds the top overall pick, having just acquired that from the Chicago Bears via a trade of their own. And the Colts sitting at fourth overall all but ensures the Ravens either Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud or Anthony Richardson. The other teams on this list will need to get creative in terms of the trade packages they're offering. The Falcons hold the eighth overall pick, Titans the 11th, Jets the 13th, Patriots the 14th, Commanders the 16th, Buccaneers 19th, and both Miami and San Francisco are left without first round picks altogether. None of those first round selections would ensure the Ravens a top three quarterback, so it's likely they would need to wow them with future first-round picks or a quality starter or two to sweeten the pot.
Given the 49ers' run-heavy offense, Jackson could be the final piece to get them a Super Bowl trophy. It would likely cost them their entire draft in 2023, next year's first, second, and third round picks and Trey Lance.

Given the Ravens overall success in recent years, 53-29 in the regular season since 2018, there is a chance we see the rare quarterback-for-quarterback swap to ensure this Jackson deal doesn't result in a rebuild. Realistically that could bring teams like Miami (Tua Tagovailoa) and San Francisco (Trey Lance) back into the picture. When healthy, Tagovailoa played at a Pro Bowl level last season. And Trey Lance, plus a collection of picks, could be enough to get the Ravens to the negotiating table.
