  • In Bracket 1, Wake Forest is the No. 1 team in the nation with a record of 52-10.
  • In Bracket 2, Florida enters as the nation's No. 2 team with a record of 50-15.
  • Oral Roberts' Cinderella run continues.

We're down to eight remaining teams in the College World Series. The format for this round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament is two double-elimination brackets. Four teams appear in each bracket and the team that goes 3-0 or 3-1 in each bracket will advance to the National Championship series (Best of 3). The games will all be played in Omaha, Nebraska, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. Here is a look at sportsbooks' futures odds ahead of the College World Series.

Virginia +450 18.18%

TCU +800 11.11%
Stanford +1200 7.69%
Oral Roberts +2200 4.35%

Bracket 1 - #1 Wake Forest vs. #8 Stanford | #5 LSU vs. Tennessee

Wake Forest entered last week's regional as one of the best pitching teams in the nation. But they left Winston Salem with a shocking 2-0 sweep of Alabama by a combined score of 27-9. If the Demon Deacons bats stay this hot, no one in the field has a chance. Stanford ground out a win over Texas in Palo Alto, sneaking past the Horns 7-6 in the final game of the Super Regional. Drew Bowser's walk-off single has the Cardinal positioned to win its first CWS since 1988. LSU pounded the Kentucky Wildcats in two games by a combined score of 22-3. The Tigers have a fearsome top-of-the-lineup in Dylan Crews and Tommy White and an ace pitcher to carry them all the way. Paul Skenes' 1.77 ERA is impressive but his 188 strikeouts in 107 innings of work is otherworldly. Tennessee hung with LSU during the regular season, but they'll need their pitching and fielding to be perfect to slow down the Bayou Bengals' electric offense.

I've been banking on LSU's lineup taking them all the way to the finals, and at +380 I'm not backing off of that prediction.

Bracket 2 - #2 Florida vs. #7 Virginia | Oral Roberts vs. TCU

During their NCAA Tournament run, Florida has shut out three opponents in their last six games. Virginia, meanwhile, has relied on a resurgent offense that is averaging a gaudy 9.2 runs per game during the NCAA Tournament. While the Cavaliers have had their ups and downs this season, Florida for the most part has been a consistent top-three team all season long. Virginia may lead college baseball in team batting average, but Florida is one of the nation's top slugging teams and capable of wearing out the Wahoos' bullpen. Oral Roberts' dream run has been fueled by their bats (2nd in average, 13th in runs per game), and their ability to win close games. TCU enters with one of the hottest bats in the country (Brayden Taylor) and a stud pitcher who's confidence is only growing. Kole Klecker shut down Indiana State in the Super Regionals and he holds the key for them winning Bracket 2 in Omaha.

Virginia has been white hot offensively and is playing its best baseball of the season at the right time. At +450, there's no reason they can't sneak past Florida and then they'd be in the driver's seat against either Oral Roberts or TCU.
