  • BetMGM, DraftKings, Bally's Corporation, MGM Resorts, Entain, and FanDuel are taking the initiative.
  • Companies already make a statement with 12 steps.
  • Safer Gambling Week will join the company to discuss this.

The US's most famous casino and sports betting companies have banded forces to fight gambling harm, including BetMGM, DraftKings, Bally's Corporation, MGM Resorts, Entain, and FanDuel

The businesses have promised to take greater responsibility and safeguard their clients.

Operators Are Working to Make the Gambling Industry Safer

Twelve essential guidelines for safer gaming were pledged to be followed by the six operators. The program is launched right before Responsible Gaming Education Month.

The guiding principles are built upon four key pillars:

  • Only conducting business in regulated jurisdictions.

  • Using responsible business practices.

  • Ensuring that online gambling is enjoyable.

  • Offering resources to assist players who may require them. Self-exclusion, loss caps, and other strategies for responsible gambling fall under this category.

The US-focused online casinos and sportsbooks have pledged to safeguard vulnerably harmed individuals and avert underage gaming at all costs.

A nationwide helpline for people impacted by gambling addiction has also been committed to being established by the six corporations.

According to the National Center for Responsible Gaming, a study in the United States shows that about 1% of adults have a serious gambling problem.

The study also shows that 6 to 9 percent of late teens and young adults have gambling-related issues, which shows the severity of the matter.

The 12-point pledge

The biggest online gambling businesses in the US have united in adopting the industry's first criteria for responsible gaming. The 12-point pledge, which is a commitment to the fundamentals of ethical online gaming, is suggested as the benchmark for the sector.

  1. Take proactive measures to stop excluded and underage players from engaging in any gaming within our products;

  2. Assist customers in making wise decisions regarding their gaming. Provide clear instructions on how to play; offer tools for responsible gaming, along with information on how to access and utilize them; and offer other related information, such as details on a toll-free helpline and resources for people looking for help with their gaming;

  3. Support the creation and efficient marketing of a single, national, toll-free helpline for responsible gaming;

  4. We refrain from employing children in marketing content, relevant state and federal laws and standards, as well as applicable norms of socially responsible advertising. Use only performers and brand ambassadors who seem to be of legal gambling age or older in gaming-related advertisements and on social media;

  5. Provide resources to help them play responsibly, such as self-exclusion options, financial and other account limitations, and betting histories;

  6. Abide by all self-exclusion guidelines and restrictions and offer assistance to those who choose to self-exclude;

  7. Encourage customers to set a spending limit they can afford, to never overspend, and avoid viewing gaming as a way to achieve financial success;

  8. Encourage customers to set time and money restrictions for their gaming and to stick to them rather than trying to make up lost time;

  9. Believe that addressing problem gaming requires a shared responsibility approach and are dedicated to working with policymakers, academic experts and researchers, organizations that provide problem gaming treatment, advocacy groups, and our partners, as well as with our customers to promote responsible gaming and address problem gaming;

  10. Encourage financial support for studies on problematic and responsible gaming;

  11. To instill a culture of responsible gambling in enterprises, give all appropriate employees responsible gaming training at the time of recruitment and frequently after that.

  12. Monitoring and evaluating each of the responsible gaming programs and initiatives.

Before Safer Gambling Week, which will occur from October 17 to 23, the subject is already being explored. OLBG.com takes responsible gambling seriously and we will cover what some of our industry's most creative and influential players have to say about the essential topics of player protection.

They will discuss the potential and difficulties our sector has as we strive for excellence in safer gaming from their point of view.
