Qualified in his first run this season at Chepstow before winning over 3m at Exeter, so the return to this trip is ideal. He ran well at Cheltenham in December in a qualifier when a close second over a shorter trip from 1 lb higher. He has been held back by the winter ground recently, waiting for this.

Lightly raced in handicaps, and this PTP winner has shaped like this trip will suit after a strong 2nd at Exeter on the penultimate start when the front two were clear over 2m 5f. LTO was given an unnecessary hold-up ride in a similar weak race and clipped heels and fell before halfway. Should make amends here.

Won this race last year from 5 lbs higher. After a couple of small-field chase wins at the start of the season, the horse has found it tough back in handicap hurdles. The suspicion is they have just been getting the mark back down. Especially on the last two starts, held up in rear and never involved when this horse needs to make running. Looks well handicapped again now, so no surprise if a revival happens.

The second time he beat Hankelow, who franked the form by winning the Autumn Stakes on his next start. Has Galileo in the pedigree, so the step up in trip should really suit, and the stable is among winners.

Started last season from this mark when 2nd to Hammer to Hammer at Chester, with that horse running 2nd at Royal Ascot from 12 lbs higher. The one win obtained last season at Windsor has been franked, with the runner-up winning since. The final start behind Eternal Sunshine was also franked, with that horse winning the Portland on the next start and the third winning the Ayr Bronze Cup next time out. Has to be on a workable mark if match fit.
