Lunar Ocean is a pound out of the handicap here but is six pounds better off with the favourite Rap Soul, who beat him by under two lengths at Plumpton two days ago. Still a maiden, he has now finished 2nd in six of his eight handicap chases since October 2024, and he may finally overcome his reluctance to get his head in front.

Walking On Air has run twice at the Cheltenham Festival. He was a close 5th of 23 in the 2023 Pertemps Handicap Hurdle over three miles. Last year he ran in the Amateur Riders' Kim Muir Handicap Chase over slightly shorter, where he was short of room when making progress between 3 out and 2 out, finishing 11th of 23. He is now on a two-pound lower mark of 127 despite a return to form last time in the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster, where he was a close 3rd. Harry Cobden rides him for Faye Bramley.

Madara started chasing early as a three-year-old in France but has been lightly raced recently and has been aimed at this race all season. He has run well at Cheltenham several times, winning a two-mile chase in December 2023 and finishing 4th of 15 and 2nd of 11 in two valuable Class 1 handicap chases over this distance in November and December 2024. He was left with too much to do last month at Kempton when 2nd to Issam, but finished well over two and a half miles off 140, and off the same mark should go close.

Lossiemouth

Daily Racing

Lossiemouth takes on Brighterdaysahead again. On the forecast, with better going than last time at Leopardstown, she should reverse that form and show that she can win a Champion Hurdle. She has previously won at the last three Cheltenham Festivals: the Triumph Hurdle in 2023 and the Mares' Hurdle in 2024 and 2025.

Blow Your Wad can be a bit clumsy with his jumping and is unexposed as a stayer, having only tried three miles twice at the beginning of the season when with Tom Lacey. Now trained by Gary and Josh Moore, they started him back at two and a half miles in two chases, and he is due to go up four pounds after his latest run at Newbury, where he finished strongly, only beaten a half length by Heltenham.

Bibe Mus gets into this juvenile handicap hurdle by virtue of his win at Sandown on Saturday and by getting a five-pound penalty on his first run for the Paul Nicholls stable. He was formerly trained in Ireland by Ross O'Sullivan, where he ran to a decent level but was put in his place by Lord when beaten into second at Aintree off level weights. Lord is only second reserve, handicapped a pound less, but Bibe Mus looked an improved horse on Saturday and should get at least a place if fully recovered.

Kopek Des Bordes

Daily Racing

Kopek Des Bordes won well at the Cheltenham Festival last year in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle despite being headstrong and slightly careless with his jumping. His main rival, Lulumba, was run out of the win in the Triumph Hurdle close home by a Willie Mullins outsider. That outsider could find Kopek Des Bordes too strong at the finish in the Arkle Chase, and he will have to settle for second again.

Daily Racing

Better Times Ahead normally runs over further and is a better chaser than hurdler. He won a three-mile handicap hurdle in November off 108 before winning a three-mile-six-furlong Listed handicap chase off 122. He was unlucky last time, caught close home after being hampered by a loose horse in a three-mile-one-furlong Grade 3 handicap chase off 131. Could win this off 118.

Daily Racing

Blake is the class horse here. Decent on the flat, and after winning a maiden hurdle he finished 2nd, beaten a head, in a Grade 2 hurdle. Last time he was 5th of 12 in a Grade 1 hurdle. He should have every chance in this Grade 3 hurdle.
