Some Scope will appreciate the faster surface. He went off too fast last time, going clear before getting legless towards the end of the race. He is capable of going close if the jockey gets the fractions right and he frontruns again. But with Almazhar Garde in the race, there could be a duel up front.

Thewoodcorner is the only four-year-old in this handicap field, and the extra distance should suit him. He stayed on into 2nd place last time and did likewise when he took it up at the last in his previous race at Chepstow on much softer going.

He has not won since, and his initial handicap mark could have been set too high at 120, although he still finished 2nd off that mark. He peaked at 123 but has started falling back to 118, and he could go close off that mark.

Although at times his resolution in a close finish has been questioned.
