Edwinp's Tips

21st November 2025
12:07 12:07 Catterick

Wasthatok

Daily Racing

50 WIN

Wasthatok has only run once over fences, and that was after joining Kerry Lee from Gavin Cromwell in January 2024. He was rated on a mark of 120 for a two-mile handicap chase at Hereford. He made an early mistake at the 3rd fence and weakened from 3 out, finishing 6th of 8, beaten 41 lengths. Now with local trainer Phillip Kirby, he won his latest run over two and a half miles hurdles comfortably off a mark of 94, which he retains here. If he manages to stay over three miles one furlong over fences, he could follow up.
12:15 12:15 Ascot

Kripticjim

Daily Racing

60 WINNB

This should be a match between Kripticjim and Loriko. Although Loriko ran in a much better race at Cheltenham last time than the race Kripticjim ran in at Chepstow, he probably needed that race when 2nd to Kingston Queen, finding nothing from the last.
12:24 12:24 Chepstow

Le Frimeur

Daily Racing

64 WIN

Le Frimeur was the easy winner of a point at Nenagh in March despite making a bad mistake five out. He is now with Harry Derham and could be good enough to win first time out over hurdles.
12:31 12:31 Fairyhouse

River Vale

Daily Racing

50 EW

River Vale runs again off a mark of 100 having just won a handicap chase at Thurles last time off 100. He switches back to hurdles for the first time since May when he was 4th of 18 at Listowel also off 100 and he should go close again.
12:40 12:40 Catterick

Turenne

Daily Racing

60 WIN

If fit and ready, ex-French juvenile gelding Turenne may have too much class for the British flat horses being sent hurdling for the first time. Even with a seven-pound winner's penalty, he should come home first. He was not beaten far last time in a Listed hurdle at Auteuil in May.
12:50 12:50 Ascot

Doctor Blue

Daily Racing

80 WINNAP

Doctor Blue went down by a short head in a battle with Fortune De Mer. He was bumped by the winner, and he now gets five pounds from winning hurdler Idaho Sun.
12:59 12:59 Chepstow

Doctors Hill

Daily Racing

50 WIN

Doctors Hill was 3rd here first time out, weakening at the last flight. Last time at Fontwell, he made progress from three out but unseated the rider on the final turn into the home straight.
13:06 1:06 Fairyhouse

Tareze

Daily Racing

50 EW

Tareze is the only mare in the field. She won two hurdles last season, and she was formerly a point winner. Her 2nd place to July Flower in her first chase was boosted by that horse winning again at Cheltenham.
13:15 1:15 Catterick

Poetry Man

Daily Racing

25 EW

Poetry Man did not do much in his three runs over hurdles in 2023 and January 2024, where he finished 4th of 14 at Newcastle before the ex-pointer turned to chasing. He has improved over fences, however, coming off a 231-day break to win comfortably in a three-mile one-furlong handicap chase here at Catterick and almost followed up, unseating 4 out when in the lead here. Could be well handicapped back over hurdles.
13:25 1:25 Ascot

Lucky Place

Daily Racing

60 WIN

Lucky Place is not overly big for chasing, but he proved himself last year to be a decent hurdler. He started with two wins, including first time out here at Ascot, and could repeat that over fences.
13:34 1:34 Chepstow

Castelfort

Daily Racing

25 EW

Castelfort very much needed his first run of the season over fences when a well-beaten 5th at Newton Abbot over two miles five furlongs. His three hurdle wins were all over two miles, and he will appreciate the drop back in distance to two miles three furlongs, at which he finished 3rd of 11 here over hurdles last season.
13:41 1:41 Fairyhouse

The Little Yank

Daily Racing

25 EW

The Little Yank's handicap mark has been in decline for several months and although more often seen over hurdles he is capable over fences. He peaked at a mark of 130 in 2022 but is now down to only 94 and although rarely winning he should get at least a place with Olive Nicholls riding.
13:50 1:50 Catterick

Silver Hill

Daily Racing

50 WIN

Silver Hill jumped poorly in his first hurdle race at Fontwell and will need to jump better at Catterick to hold off an Irish challenger who won last time at Cork. But with a seven-pound winner's penalty, the speed Silver Hill has shown in two bumpers, winning one, should see him home on the run-in.
14:00 2:00 Ascot

Lord Baddesley

Daily Racing

40 EW

Lord Baddesley was taken out last week when the going went soft to heavy. But he should have his favoured good going at Ascot, and he could have a race fitness edge over Your Darling, who was very impressive over course and distance two years ago on similar going off 128. He also won last time at Uttoxeter 544 days ago on soft going off 137, and now on 142, the handicapper may be giving him too much to do in giving a stone to Lord Baddesley, who won easily at Newbury off 121 and can follow up off seven pounds more.
14:09 2:09 Chepstow

Lundi Noir

Daily Racing

50 WIN

Lundi Noir won his first and only hurdle last season at Market Rasen. First time out this season in a handicap hurdle over course and distance, he showed his mark to be about right when finishing a close 3rd, just tiring late on.
14:16 2:16 Fairyhouse

Yewtree Hill

Daily Racing

25 EW

Yewtree Hill is a winner of three points. He beat Bold Fury by a length last January and also won his latest point at Castletown-Geoghegan by eight lengths in October. He could snatch a place at 16-1.
14:25 2:25 Catterick

William Cody

Daily Racing

40 EW

William Cody is back down to a pound below his last winning mark when he won second time out last season after a poor first run. He is again on his second run of this season after needing his first run when 21 lengths 3rd place at Warwick.
14:35 2:35 Ascot

Poet Laureate

Daily Racing

50 EW

It was probably a fairly weak maiden hurdle that Poet Laureate won at Plumpton last time, but this former Irish pointer could not have done it more easily, making all by 21 lengths. As he jumped to the right at Plumpton, a right-handed track like Kempton should suit him better. The handicapper may have been more generous to Fortune De Mer, who won at Cheltenham, but it remains to be seen if he is as good away from Cheltenham.
14:44 2:44 Chepstow

The Big Reveal

Daily Racing

50 EW

The Big Reveal won his first ever race last time at Lingfield with Joe Anderson riding without his feet in the irons on the run-in. He failed to go close twice at Chepstow last season from marks of 84 and 85 but could get at least a place now off 86.
14:51 2:51 Fairyhouse

Leis Fein

Daily Racing

25 EW

Leis Fein was having his first race since August 2023 here this month when 6th of 16, beaten 14 lengths and unfancied at 200-1. Back in a handicap hurdle on his lowly mark of 85, he could get at least a place.
15:00 3:00 Catterick

Peejaybee

Daily Racing

50 WIN

Not much to choose between the top weight Peejaybee and Almazhar Garde in this handicap chase. Almazhar Garde stayed on too late last time after getting outpaced to be beaten only a length in 4th place, whilst Peejaybee went clear and stayed on well at the finish. He probably could have extended his lead, and if he jumps well at Catterick, he may not be caught by the field.
15:10 3:10 Ascot

Muskoka

Daily Racing

25 EW

Muskoka badly needed his latest run when behind both Safe Destination and Jubilant at Kempton over three miles. But now, better off at the weights and in a first-time visor, he could run much better and at least get a place.
15:19 3:19 Chepstow

Midnight View

Daily Racing

25 EW

Midnight View was pulled up quickly after he was badly hampered but also fading 3 out at Warwick in his first handicap hurdle off 102. He is dropped two pounds but also gets a first-time tongue tie and may be good enough for a place behind Reinado.

Reinado

Daily Racing

150 WIN

Reinado runs again quickly before being reassessed, having won a conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter by 25 lengths off 93 and is due to go up eight pounds. Should follow up.
15:26 3:26 Fairyhouse

Catalani

Daily Racing

40 EW

Catalani is a winner of three points including his last two in October and November and he will have a race fitness advantage over the hot favourite Unflinching who won his only point 229 days ago at Dromahane and is now with Gordon Elliott.
15:35 3:35 Catterick

Trigg

Daily Racing

60 WIN

Trigg was due to run at abandoned Hexham a few days ago and has headed into the snowy North again to run at Catterick. This Worcester bumper winner could defy his seven-pound penalty with Harry Atkins' allowance negating it.
15:45 3:45 Ascot

Secret Sniper

Daily Racing

40 EW

Secret Sniper may get at least another place having been placed twice in juvenile bumpers last season for Hugh Morrison. He has booked Sean Bowen to ride to give every chance of being finessed into the lead in the home straight.
15:54 3:54 Chepstow

Bande Organisee

Daily Racing

25 EW

Bande Organisee fell twice in two Irish points and in the latter of those he was still challenging at the last after making the running and making more than one mistake. He showed enough speed to be a contender in this bumper.

Max Verstappen

Fastest Qualifier

50 WIN

Max Verstappen ended up on the podium in Brazil after starting from the pit lane and could bounce back to top the qualification in Las Vegas.
13:30 1:30 Ascot

Il Est Francais

Daily Racing

80 WINNAP

Il Est Francais returns to the UK and the conditions of this Grade 2 Chase means that he is bottom weight getting weight from the rest of the field. If he jumps like he did in the King George VI Chase at Kempton last December he will be difficult to peg back and the shorter distance of two miles five furlongs is to his advantage.
14:05 2:05 Ascot

Rock My Way

Daily Racing

50 EWNB

Rock My Way has only one win over hurdles and one win over fences in 17 runs under rules. But he also won his last of 3 runs in points and was always going to be a decent staying chaser. Unfortunately, his jumping has let him down in some big staying chases. But right-handed Ascot might suit him as an easier jumping test. He has previously only run once right-handed over fences at Hereford when with Syd Hosie. He is well-weighted on a mark of 131, his winning mark from a year ago when he won over three miles at Doncaster.

Kateira

Daily Racing

25 EW

Kateira easily won a match race last time with Golden Ace and should be good enough here for at least a place in this field, with only the other mare Wodhooh standing out as well-weighted under the race conditions.

Wodhooh

Daily Racing

100 WIN

Wodhooh comes over from Ireland looking well-weighted under the race conditions. She suffered her first defeat over hurdles last time at the hands of Lossiemouth, who was touted as a potential Champion Hurdler last season.

Shakeyatailfeather

Daily Racing

25 EW

Shakeyatailfeather and Gabriels Getaway trailed the field for much of the way when Teddy Blue won here three weeks ago. Whilst Gabriels Getaway made late progress to chase down Teddy Blue in 2nd place, Shakeyatailfeather had a more troubled passage. First, finding room to move out and then having to jump over a faller two out, and could only manage to reach 5th place. Although still out of the handicap, Heidi Palin rides and takes off seven pounds, and she could finish much closer.

Miyu Yamashita

40 EW

Miyu Yamashita has had a stellar rookie year and ranked No. 2 behind Jeeno Thitikul for this tournament. She recently won the Maybank Tournament, so she should have every chance in Florida of winning the biggest prize in women's golf.
