Former winning pointer Romeo Coolio has already surpassed his hurdling career, switching to fences this season with four wins out of four novice chases, the last three at Grade 1 level. Although his last two were narrow victories over two miles and one furlong, he prefers further. His first two were comfortable wins over two and a half miles, showing no sign of stopping. He goes up in distance to three miles and one furlong and wears a first-time hood to try to settle him early in the race to get the new trip.

Forty Coats made late progress into 4th place over course and distance last year in the Grade 1 Turners Novice Hurdle, albeit beaten 15 lengths behind The New Lion and The Yellow Clay, but is now 17 pounds better off with the top weight here. Although still a maiden over hurdles, he won his only point and only bumper and now tries cheekpieces for the first time.

Blues Singer was badly hampered early on in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Kempton last time and never showed. His previous third place at Newbury, off a 310-day break, showed him to be capable of winning a maiden hurdle like this one at Huntingdon.

Stumptown's only defeat in his last five races was in last season's Grand National, where he was badly hampered and was eventually pulled up with wounds to his leg. He has not run since October, when he won the Pardubice Chase in Czechia. He also came through at the last fence to win this race last year, and even with top weight could be too good for favourite Favori De Champdou on the run-in.

Majborough would have won last year's Arkle Chase but for making mistakes at three of the last four fences and was still third, beaten by less than a length. After repeating his poor jumping in a subsequent race, he finally came good last time at Leopardstown in the Grade 1 Dublin Chase, beating Marine Nationale by 19 lengths in first-time cheekpieces, in which he jumped a faultless round.

His form deteriorated on soft to heavy going in his latest two runs, in which he finished last of 5 and last of 4. He could bounce back on better going with a competitive mark of 136 and Jack Kennedy on board.

Bambino Fever was narrowly beaten on her hurdle debut by the second favourite Oldschool Outlaw, but she was not foot-perfect over the hurdles. She was better when winning a maiden hurdle next time, making all comfortably at Fairyhouse. Oldschool Outlaw has since easily won a Grade 3 hurdle at Fairyhouse and will be tough to beat. However, the flat-speed Bambino Fever, unbeaten in bumpers, should prevail with a first-time tongue strap.
