Jango Baie lost out in third to Impair Et Passe in a novice chase over two and a half miles at this meeting last year. He dropped back after a mistake at the 11th fence and finished well to almost snatch second. He is probably better at three miles and should get his revenge.

Brighterdaysahead probably would prefer more cut at Aintree, but she won over course and distance two years ago on her only visit to Aintree. She has lost out at Cheltenham three times, twice with Golden Ace winning. Aintree will suit her frontrunning style if she tries to burn off the finish from her main rivals.

Palamon is one horse that will benefit from good, drying conditions at Aintree. He clicked last time at Bangor, coming through to win going away on good ground after a string of poor chase performances since joining Dan Skelton from Ireland, where likewise he showed his best work on good going. Originally out of the handicap, his four-pound penalty puts him a pound ahead of the handicapper, and seven-pound claimer Harry Atkins rides.
