Ludo's Landing returned to form on his latest outing with a win at Newcastle over today's distance. Drying ground will suit, as he has won races on a sound surface. His previous win came over twelve furlongs at Thirsk, which is quite a sharp track, so Musselburgh with its tight bend can suit. That success in June came when his official rating was 80, and he races off a mark two pounds lower today. Ludo's Landing is two from four in blinkers, which are retained.

Croke Park represents powerful connections in Gigginstown House Stud and Gordon Elliott. The stable saddled a double at Aintree yesterday. Croke Park has finished in the first three places in seven of his nine chases. The horse has dropped in the weights. His sire, Walk in the Park, has achieved a score of three wins and a place from ten runners over the Grand National fences.

O'Moore Park has been in good form in the last few months, not beaten far in the valuable Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown in December (career-best performance) and achieving a rating just three pounds lower at the Cheltenham Festival. He has gone equally well on good and yielding ground and at distances ranging from 2.5 miles to over three miles. His sire, Walk in the Park, has achieved a score of three wins and a place from ten runners over the Grand National fences.

Akrivos has had ten outings without winning. He reverts in distance to one mile, at which distance he recorded a career-best effort at Chelmsford in November off a mark of 55. Racing today with an official rating of 48, the horse has been given a chance in this Class 6 handicap. Cheekpieces are worn for the first time, which may bring improvement.

Violet Goldsmith

Daily Racing

Violet Goldsmith has been highly tried in a conditions event, a maiden, and a novice stakes??"two of these at Class 2 level??"but achieved little. Today's Class 6 race on her handicap debut is a different matter, and she may have got in here lightly. The stable is going well, with a winner on each of the last two days.

Dr T J Eckleburg has form in this race, placing fifth of fourteen here last season, keeping on from two out. He is thirteen pounds better off today with last year's winner Sans Bruit. Dr T J Eckleburg also carries less weight this year at 10-2. Similar good-to-soft going is forecast, and the horse has been best on a soft surface. He goes well on sharp tracks with wins at Ludlow and Taunton and the left-handed, flat track at Worcester. A consistent type, he has finished in the first three places in 17 of his 27 chases. The horse has always completed the course.

Fan De Blues has good form in the past, winning a Grade 3 chase for W. P. Mullins. The horse has not finished outside the first four places in four outings for Miss Nikki Henton. The best of those runs came at Taunton in January when he placed second, keeping on over 21.5 furlongs. The ground was good on that occasion, and drying ground would suit today. Based on his Taunton run, today's distance should suit.

Willewonga

Daily Racing

Trainer J J O'Shea has won this race twice and landed the Cheltenham Festival Hunters' Chase last month. He targets Aintree, so Willewonga cannot be entirely ruled out at very big odds, despite looking like he has it all to do at the weights. The horse needs to improve on his performance in this race last year, when he finished behind a winning stable companion and weakened four out after being hampered earlier. He stays well and has won a Hunters' Chase over today's distance at Cartmel. He has won on good and soft ground.

Gloriola has her second outing in handicaps, having dropped four pounds in the weights. She also goes up in distance to just over one mile. Her best performance of her four outings has been over the longest distance, 7.5 furlongs on a sound surface, when she only weakened late and was beaten just over four lengths. The filly raced prominently on that occasion, and similar tactics at Nottingham can suit with the sharp bend causing a steady pace. Gloriola's dam placed second in a Listed race when upped in trip to one mile, her second and only start. Gloriola is half-sister to two winners who have achieved a level of form at least twenty pounds higher, including Gaius, who improved with an increased trip when placing at Nottingham in April of his three-year-old season. Drying ground can suit today. Trainer Steph Hollinshead saddled a second-placed runner at 16/1 in a handicap yesterday.

Antique Blue started out with Andrew Balding and has been well beaten in a novice and maiden for Ruth Carr. It is hoped that handicapping can bring improved form. Out of a winning dam, the horse is a half-brother to three winners. A hood is fitted for the first time, which may bring improvement. William Pyle takes over in the saddle, and his three-pound allowance can come in useful here.

Battenburg Belle has achieved little in a maiden and two novice events, so should be reasonably well treated on her handicap debut. One can never write off these sprinters, as six-year-old Spartan Arrow showed last season when he recorded personal best performances. His victories in Listed and Group 3 company read well in the context of today's Class 2 handicap. Best on a sound surface, the drying ground should suit. A low draw can be an advantage here, and stall 1 can help. Trainer Archie Watson is going well, with a recent treble and a winner yesterday. Hollie Doyle was in the saddle for the big wins last season and regains the ride.

Shanbally Kid represents powerful connections in Gigginstown House Stud and trainer W. P. Mullins. This horse recorded a career-best performance when landing a chase at just short of four miles at Punchestown in May. He hasn't been anywhere near that distance since until today. Also, that run came after a pulled-up, so recent disappointing efforts can be disregarded, as this horse is none too consistent. Unexposed over the trip and one from one at Punchestown, he can't be ruled out at big odds.

Intellotto needs to recapture his form for Joseph Patrick O'Brien. If he has acclimatised following his move to England, he could go well at massive odds. The horse has won on the sharp track at Sligo and on undulating tracks at Sligo and Limerick. He has won going left-handed at Leopardstown. Intellotto has scored on good ground, and today's drying conditions can suit. He has the speed from a 10.5-furlong flat win to handle Plumpton, which favours handy types.

A sharp track with a likely fast pace should suit Smart Decision, who has a middle-distance flat pedigree. The drying ground should suit this horse. The forecast going is good (good to soft in places), and his career-best performances have been on good to soft ground, but he has won on good going. One of his best runs came over today's course and distance, racing off a mark of 120. He is a pound lower today. Two of his wins have been within 26 days of today's date. Cheekpieces are worn for the first time, which may bring improvement. Often amateur-ridden, the booking of the in-form James Bowen takes the eye.

Charlie's Choice has raced at Lingfield on fourteen occasions and only once has he finished outside the first four places. He has been an improver this year, recording a career-best performance in February. The horse came within one pound of his best when upped in trip to 14 furlongs in March, placing second. On this sharp track, which clearly suits, a further increase in distance may not stop him. For that good run in March he ran off a mark of 80. Charlie's Choice has been dropped to a mark of 79 today. Taryn Langley has been in the saddle for the horse's last four wins, and she regains the ride today.

Top Flight Century makes the twenty-minute journey from his stable at Bolam to Sedgefield, where he is a course-and-distance winner. He has two wins and a good second placing on his record over today's distance of two and a half miles. Pulled up on his latest outing, his trainer's representative reported that the horse was unsuited by the tacky ground, which was officially good to soft (soft in places), and would prefer quicker. With drying ground forecast, today's course, distance, and going should suit. One from one at Sedgefield, Top Flight Century can go well. Danny McMenamin, who rode a treble yesterday, takes over for his first ride on Top Flight Century, replacing a conditional jockey.

William Maggs is an interesting booking for Mr Rumbalicious. Claiming a three-pound allowance, he tries to follow up from his latest ride, which was a winner. The stable's two jockeys, Charlotte Jones and Leah Noreci, are both at Newcastle and can do the weight, but William Maggs takes his first ride on the horse. Racing off a mark of 79 when a decent second over two miles at Hexham in June, Mr Rumbalicious ran well at 40/1 despite being out of the handicap. Hexham is a stiff track, and today's distance of 2.5 miles can suit. Trainer James Moffatt explained that, last time, the horse was unsuited by three miles plus. Racing off a mark of 71 today, Mr Rumbalicious can go well at big odds.
