Jesmond Dawn's form has improved lately, all on this track. Looked ready to win last time and ran on late but was denied a neck. Looks best here, as King’s School seems a few pounds overrated at the moment but can make a race of it.

After some poor runs on turf, Concert Boy ran well enough to finish strongly on this track two races back. The race was won by Carameto, but Concert Boy looked unlucky due to some dubious-looking steering by the jockey. Jason Hart took over next time and proved this point, so I believe a form reversal looks on with Carameto.

Chancellor had a gelding op and wind surgery before making an AW debut over this course and distance last time in a Class 2. He overcame the break by landing late and fast to win. He should be sharper here. Holloway Boy, the apparent danger, has yet to win on an AW track. The same goes for Torito and Ebt's Guard.

-150

Red Cadillac seemed to improve with the softening ground last time and won a duel on the run-in to prevail by a head. This coincides with the yard's improved form of late. While he had to fight to win last time, he beat a handful of horses rated over 100, so the penalty taking his mark up to 98 isn't bad.

Lose

-150

Studios won at Newcastle last time well enough, but it had taken a string of below-average runs to drop the mark from 77 to 68 to achieve it. I'm not confident of a follow-up given that he incurs a 6-pound penalty that takes him above his winning mark by 6 pounds again. Tonal, on the other hand, has won the last two and the mark on the AW is going steadily up, and that's more progressive. Plus he's won on another Polytrack surface. Claimer's claim keeps him still on a winnable mark.

Could be an interesting clash between two recent improvers. Flash Rascal had disappointed in a couple of turf runs but was then gelded and had a wind op. He then disappointed again in two more. Abandoned turf last time to win at Chelmsford (stewards accepted the surface as the reason for improvement). Likely to improve now on AW tracks but still looks a little slow. American Flight has enjoyed switching to artificial surfaces too and is now going for the hat trick. Won a muddy three-runner at Newcastle last time but won well here C&D before. Seemed to be suited by the configuration here, and that swings it for me.

Take A Hike has a good attitude and has only had nine runs, winning a chase and, last time, a hurdle. He has placed around this distance on soft ground, and the manner of the win last time suggested he's got the hang of things now. A promising claimer removes the penalty for that.

Woodland Park wound up last season, winning easily at odds on over CD by 13 L. Was off over a year before a comeback run recently at Carlisle. That was a handicap debut, and the run was needed. A 3rd of 13 is decent enough in the context of this race. John Barbour has been 2nd and won in two races since a wind operation. The yard's ticking along and rates a danger.

Romeo Coolio was placed at Cheltenham and Aintree festivals last season. He has just made an eye-catching chase debut after seven months away to beat six rivals by a wide margin as 4/6 favorite. Elliott's yard is doing nicely, and this could be aimed at the fences at the festivals this year.

Home Made Hero ran a few good points then was backed to 5/4 favorite to make a good hurdles debut. He duly obliged with ease at Uttoxeter. The yard obviously saw something at home that showed promise, so he can go in again given the winning distance (12 L). Swindon Village was also fancied on debut (4/1) and ran well to be a good third and is the obvious danger.

Great Notions is the least experienced but has a lot more scope given he's had only three runs and has figures of -132 over fences. The Elliott yard is waking up, and they had one with a similar profile trounce a half-decent field at Newbury yesterday.

Resplendent Grey ran an excellent 4th of 18 over 3m 6f at the Festival last season, then beat 17 rivals at Sandown over 3m 4f. Both were races of this grade and on soft ground. He had been off 8 months before a recent seasonal bow over an easier 2m 4f to blow the cobwebs off, and did it well enough in a small field. Should be good to go now for the in-form team of Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen.

Indemnity has been in the frame in the last 6 races, winning three. However, all were on good ground. Could still be involved if handling softer ground and a grade higher. Indeevar Bleu is lightly raced for a 7??'year??'old, having only 4 races since 2023. Won well on heavy ground last season, then after 4 months off made a successful seasonal bow to win well with 12 stobe. Still has scope with so few miles on the clock, likes any ground, and goes well fresh.

Constitution Hill was the best hurdler around until the first fall. He has failed three times since to win. He has run off a mark of 175 in the last three races, and the best he managed was last time when finishing fifth. It looks, on form, to have gone. Anazadam was 2 from 2 in France and is 2 from 2 since joining Willie Mullins. This one has the same connections as State Man, another Mullins star (who was 25 lengths in front of Constitution Hill last time). Likes any ground and looks very interesting after his last demolition of a couple of small fields for practice.

French Ship won well in soft at Cheltenham recently, beating 19 rivals. The handicapper's hit him with an extra 8 pounds and he could be vulnerable. Lud'or is still on an upward trajectory and won by an alarming 27 lengths last time at Bangor. You can't put it down to poor quality as it was Class 2 and had 11 starters (3 didn't complete). He had won well two races before when beating 13 runners in Class 4. Clearly going the right way. That winning distance last time seems to have scared the handicapper into lumping 13 pounds more on now. Could be between both, and I take the latter to be ahead at this point.

The hold-up tactics employed on Diesel Line last time were overdone.
