Tranquil Sea landed gambles when last seen, and it was over this distance. Won going away after cruising to the lead. Trainer explained that the return to this distance and this drier ground, as well as cheekpieces, seemed to do the trick. So if all that left them ahead of the handicapper, it seems they have a good chance of doubling up even with an 8-pound penalty. Ginger McCain is in decent form in both codes, and Serious Chat looked good at this distance last time and is consistent. Should be in at the finish.

Schrodinger's Cat is still only lightly raced. Won one in seven tries for the previous yard before a break of seven months and being gelded. Made a good reappearance to be beaten by a good, improving Balding horse and will be better for that run. Will handle any ground and has a good draw.

Put hands together is a useful dual-purpose runner and has had a recent hurdle race to keep him fresh. He has had nine flat runs from '23 to '25, from Dundalk sand and mile races to the final run at The Curragh when stepping up to 2m for the first time and winning Ireland's Cesarewitch, beating 29 rivals and collecting the £330, 000.00 first prize. Still relatively lightly raced and unexposed at this distance, he can defy a 4-pound penalty and continue likely improvement from here. Seem a good each-way bet in Joseph O'Brien's strong hand here. Andrew Balding has a strong hand too, and this race looks between these two. Another Irish Cesarewitch second (the year before 2024) is also an impressive Joseph O'Brien stayer with a shout and a good up-and-coming jockey riding.

That was at Pontefract and he was staying on strongly after needing to be switched late, only going down by a head. Adonius is two from two after winning 7f on debut at Musselburgh. Potential looked obvious and he went on to take a Class 2 £12,000 race, albeit only three opposed. Stall one is a plus if he breaks fast again.

A switch back to 2m 4f over this CD last time and dry ground worked the oracle nicely for Lion Of The Desert, as was noted by the trainer to the stewards later on. Same conditions today and despite the improvement only has 3 extra pounds. The winning jockey again removes three pounds.

That improvement would seem to be more about the headgear, but the crashed rating helped too. A clear run against this opposition today would seem to give a big chance.

Very thin form here points to a likely duel between the two 4-year-olds Camera Shy and Ashen. Camera Shy won on debut in '24 and hasn't won since in 16 tries on turf and AW. Last eight runs have been poor on AW and the mark has crashed to an all-time low. Looks unreliable, though. Ashen isn't one of Jim Goldie's stars exactly, and his mark has also crashed to a low 63 (from 74). He was beaten 7L at Thirsk two races ago, then tried a mile and was an encouraging third last time at Musselburgh. Made good late headway after a poor start, and that's about the best form on offer.
