Has won on softer ground, and today's extra half mile shouldn't be a negative, as his best distance over hurdles was this one.

Sober seems to be the choice of Paul Townend of the Willie Mullins two. Since getting him from France, he won at long odds on his hurdle debut and won an Ascot Marathon on the flat worth £56,000. I'll row in with Willie Mullins' thinking here and go with him over his stablemate.

Big Brave Boy has a chance to get involved, being only lightly raced (8 chases) and it being an open contest. Improved to win well two races ago over this distance in mud, and did well last time with the 6-pound penalty to be fourth over 3 miles, only weakening late. Back to the best distance for him now. Gingo d'Aubrelle and Whateys Quest are heading the overnight market, but the former hasn't been in the frame in his 4 chases and the latter hasn't run in one.

Only three here are rated 150-plus. The rest are rated 10 or more pounds inferior at this point. Of those three, Blood Destiny can be the choice. On the face of it, recent form isn't great. He has been favourite three times out of four runs and second favourite the other time, and only won once. However, those races have all been upwards of 2m 3f. This will be the shortest he has run since his hurdling and novice chasing, and it is a distance he has won over before on various goings.

It seems like it was going nowhere fast over hurdles and was given a break, then wind surgery. Made an impressive enough chase debut, winning well from experienced chasers and can go in here. Hunter Legend has had enough chances and the yard is very in and out this season so far.

Von Krolock has only won 2 of 40 races, so not exactly keen. However, the majority of those runs were on turf in Ireland. Since joining this stable and concentrating on synthetics, there's at least been some encouragement. He achieved one of those wins, for instance (Wolves), 4 races ago. It seems that he is best suited by 6 furlongs but has seldom tried the distance, aiming at 7 and 8 instead. He has shown up well here too, so today's 6 furlongs in a race of very thin form could see him get involved late.
