Villa's once-promising league chances have been derailed, having won only 1 of their last 6 domestic games. They stay in fourth nonetheless, and the way the Premier League stands they are likely to be in Euro placings come what may. They have been one of the most potent teams in all European competition though and have won 10 of 11. They beat tonight's visitors 3-1 in leg one, so should beat them here for a place in the semis.

Real Betis have won 4 and drawn one in Europe but have only won 1 of their last 8 league games. It implies they have all their eggs in the Euro basket despite still being fifth in their league. Their home form domestically is 4 straight draws. Not great, but their unbeaten run in all competitions is promising.

Mubasimah can go well at a decent price. Has had two runs (last season), both over this course and distance. The second run was a runner-up spot in a Class 1 race worth £36,000 to the winner. They have solid credentials. The fact that she won on debut here last season suggests she won't be rusty after a break.

White Noise is the standout on form and ratings, winning 4 of 6, and the last win was in the Mares' race at the Festival last month at 40/1. That was a well-deserved win and not a fluke, but the rating had gone from 109 to 128. It was a tough race and the rating is now 138, so it's possible those two factors might conspire against her and make her vulnerable. Gordon Elliott has brought a lightly raced one over in the shape of Torpille Dagrostis and has booked Sean Bowen. Lightly raced but improving, she was 2nd of 16, then odds-on and won last time. This is a step up, but a good time to challenge one racing off such a high mark.

Liverpool went to Paris to defend in the first leg, hoping to begin the second leg on equal terms. Despite that, they were beaten 2-0 in a game which could well have been at least 4 or 5-0. The Reds have no choice but to attack and go for broke. PSG have the best strike force in Europe domestically, and the goals tally is growing. Liverpool continue to play fast and loose at the back, and the coach seems happy to mix and match and pray. That spells disaster against tonight's opponents. The hosts will leave themselves vulnerable at the back, and the visitors strike with speed. History won't help anyone on the night. I see Liverpool getting a goal one way or another, but PSG won't rest on their lead.

Profit Street has run his last 5 races here and won two and placed three. Obviously likes it here and likes artificial surfaces, having won on three different tracks. He had a recent run, which is an advantage, and was a running-on third here after an early bump in the race. That's the best form on show, and anything beating him tonight would need to improve a bit.

Firefox might be the 'big one' in the frame this year EW. Eight-year-olds have done best in the last six races, and this one was flying high in the Gold Cup last time. Out of his depth obviously but finished 6th. The second and fourth have won here this week. Was staying on late in that 3m 2f race, and a slower first circuit here may allow him a good run late. Seven-year-olds don't do so well, but Jagwar can change that. Has won 4 of 8 chases and, significantly, only been placed in three this season, ensuring a decent mark. Made a few so-so jumps at the festival when stepping up to 3 miles but finished fast to be a head 2nd of 22 to Johnny Who. They have a rematch here, and Jagwar is the choice of the owner's jockey Mark Walsh. Headgear is reached for this time.

Home By The Lee sprung a 33/1 shock in the stayers at the festival and is likely to have himself watched more closely here. Could still make the podium, though. Five lengths behind the winner that day was Honesty Policy, who joined the leaders two out but faded. Today they reach for a first-time tongue tie and fancy a rematch. Last win for him was here last year in a £56,000 race half a mile shorter. I think the 6-year-old will reverse with the 11-year-old and stay on stronger now on a flatter track and with the headgear.
