Kadastral's form is interesting. Figures of -212 on closer reading tell of a cosy win a class lower that followed a 12-length second debut behind Sober Glory. The last run was behind that one again to the tune of 28 lengths. He was eased once the chance had gone, and that winner was a good second a few days ago, opening the Cheltenham Festival in the Supreme Novices' when rated 148. Given that this race is only £5,000 and the selection is rated 129, this race looks well within his grasp.

Ryan's Rocket beat a good class field at Newbury (10 runners) in Class 3 two races ago. On the back of that he started 7/4 favourite in the Class 1 Desert Orchid race over this course and distance over Christmas, worth £57,000. He was cruising and looking strong until falling at the 8th fence. He would have gone very close for sure had he stayed upright. He has won after a break, and if jumping here he will take some beating.

Neo King is only 8 and has won once from 8 chases. He has also been second 4 times and third twice. So it looks like a good effort is on the cards. Last time he tried an extreme distance was three races back when he was 6th of 11 in Kelso's National. It was a decent effort in the hands of a claimer. His only win followed that, over 3 miles, when in the hands of today's jockey, Ben Jones, beating 15 rivals. Last time he was 3rd, beaten 3 lengths over 3 miles 4 furlongs, but again in a claimer's hands. Reunited with the jockey who got the win now and under 11 stone, he looks like going very close.

Turndlightsdownlow looks on a fair mark. Has won over this course and distance at a lower level a few races ago, then was upped to Class 3 and has two good runner-up runs. The first was a couple of furlongs further than this and failed to stay. The last one was behind one rated 124, who won again afterwards and is now rated higher. Goes better on drying ground, is proven here, and has a decent level of form at this level.

Wonderwall hasn't run under rules since last year. The former also has Derek O'Connor, which is persuasive. Panda Bay looks sure to be involved at the finish, having won the last two chases well.

Ireland has won the last seven, but the home side have a stronger hand this year. Last year's winner hasn't fired since, and the ante-post Mullins favourite was pulled last week. Willie Mullins and Townend have Gaelic Warrior, and he's more potent than recent races suggest. He was third in a finish of three noses in the King George; it was due to the jockey losing half a length trying to catch his wayward whip. Today's overnight favourite won the race, Jukebox Man. He's been a revelation and hasn't stopped improving yet. This 3m 2f and uphill finish will really test them, though. I believe Gaelic Warrior is better at Cheltenham than Kempton and other Irish courses, and at eight he has a great chance to show it in this field. Haiti Coleurs has a great each-way chance if forcing the pace.

No favourite has won in the last 11 runnings. Nine of the last 11 winners have been double-digit starting prices. Nine of the last 12 runners have been Irish-trained. Tackltommywoowoo is a very big price and is one of the few that have tackled the distance of 3 miles and won. He ran poorly last time, finishing last of seven, and has a tongue tie today for the first time. Might be a sporting each-way as he's generally 40/1. Thedeviluno came to Doncaster last time and landed gambles over this distance and never looked in doubt. He has won in a big field too and is now -121 in three, so is on the up.

Jubilee Alpha has been, on the face of it, disappointing for the Nichols yard. He has been shorter than 3/1 in three small fields and managed to run well but not win each time. That's earned him a lower mark than is realistic, in my opinion. If he handles a large field and the jockey can get involved early, he may place and might be each-way value if five and six places are available. The Skeltons will want to make amends for owners of Kabral Du Mathan, who came cruising to win yesterday's stayers' race only to fold out of the first four on the run-in. They run Sinnatra here. Earlier in the season, in a field this size, Sinnatra beat all but Age Of Innocence, who ran a big race on day one to be second in the Supreme. That's a big compliment to the form, so Sinnatra should be able to run well in a handicap. The Skeltons have had a couple of big handicap winners this festival.

Willie Mullins has won 5 of the last 6 and the last 4 runnings. He saddles almost half the field, so has to be taken seriously. Worth noting that his winner last year was 100/1 and the year before the third string. It's not a cut-and-dried race form-wise. I'm looking elsewhere and I like Minella Study, who is three wins from three races. Beat Winston Junior last time, and that one ran a good second here the other day in the Fred Winter. Still on an upward trajectory, has to go close in this. Also Highland Crystal from the Elliott yard is also three wins from three races and last time beat Saratoga, which won the Fred Winter the other day. Elliott got off the mark yesterday, as did these connections, and they receive a valuable 7 pounds from Minella, so that may make the difference.
