Yokstone was racing off the high 60s 12 months ago but has built up a string of poor runs. When winning last time he was off a mark of 47. That was his first win in three years. It was on Polytrack and in a classified stakes, so overall he looks a bit short for this Tapeta handicap. Instant Bond won over 6f two back and was third in inexperienced hands last time. In this race he has the most experienced jockey.

There were three firsts for Quick Quasar last time out: first run following being gelded; first time in cheek pieces; and first run in a handicap. It added up to the first time he ran well and only lost by a neck. Previously showed nothing in three runs, so it was a big improvement and bodes well for a race as thin as this.

Royal Way is a bit of a Ludlow specialist, having won three times there in his four victories. Ascot is a similar configuration, and the other win came here 12 months ago in Class 2 on good ground. He won at Ludlow last time off a reduced mark of 111 (had risen to 124). The mark of 117 looks feasible in this race.

Glance of Glory won two on the run (has had five hurdle races now) over 2m 4f on good ground. It's possible that good ground suits him more, as he didn't last the 3 miles on soft next time at Aintree. He was going well last time before clipping heels with one and slipping up on soft at Newbury. He may well stay this distance, and back on good ground can get back on track against market rivals who haven't done any better.

He had a nice blowout last time, recently traveling all over rivals and pulling away over a mile. This is a step up, to be sure, but a similar run and continued improvement could well see him shake them up.

Just A Glance won a couple of points before switching to this yard, had a wind operation, and won on debut without fuss. That's good enough to get the vote at this level at this stage in a race of little to no form to deter a bet. The Procrastinator is the only danger on form, having won on debut but failed to follow up due to poor jumping. He seemed happy on heavy ground, so there is no guarantee this drier surface will suit.

Planned Paradise is an infrequent winner who seems to win once a season. For the last two seasons the win has come off a mark of 107. Won again last time following the mark sinking to 98. Handicapper takes it back up to 107 here, but a decent claimer takes it back down to 104, so still handicapped to win. Trainer specialises in marathon chases and won going away last time over 3m 5f.
