Bumpy Evans chases a 5-timer over fences here and is clearly a chaser rather than a hurdler. However, the last win was a wide-margin win, but Cartmel form is notoriously hard to replicate elsewhere. This is also a couple of grades higher and with 17 extra pounds. It's also a yard debut. Too many question marks for me, so Oliver's Travels is my choice. Already a winner in this grade, he too is a better chaser than hurdler. Yard in form, as is the jockey.

Cuban Lady is 3-1-2 on turf and lightly raced. Only just failed last time at Newmarket. Could be this flatter track will be more suitable at the finish, and the booking of William Buick is a plus.

Diesel Line boasts the best current form, even though disappointing last time at Stratford. Came late there, going well, but seemed to hit a flat spot at the vital moment to be 4th. The race before brought an easy win over this course and distance, so maybe the return to this place will get him back on track in a race where there's little competition.
