17:01 World Cup 2026

Brazil

50 WIN

@+800

Void

0

Brazil are five-time champions of the world, and they are long overdue on the grandest stage of them all. The Samba Boys last lifted the World Cup in 2002, but with players like Thiago, Marquinhos, and Casemiro having excellent seasons, I fancy that under Carlo Ancelotti the Brazilians can reestablish themselves as the footballing superpower of the world this summer.

Portugal

25 EW

@+1100

Void

Portugal finished 4th in the 2006 World Cup and that team included the likes of Figo, Ronaldo and Deco. Four years ago they were beaten quarter-finalists, but on paper they look to have one of the best squads in the tournament. Portugal won the 2016 European Championship, and I fancy Vitinha and Bruno Fernandes to pull the strings in the middle. There is a big World Cup on the cards for the Portuguese, who include Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jamal Musiala

Top Goalscorer

25 EW

@+5000

Void

0

The Bayern Munich winger was the joint top scorer in the last European Championship with three goals. He heads to the World Cup fresher than most, given he only played 14 league games for Bayern because of injuries. Jamal Musiala will be one of the three-pronged attackers for Germany. He has a good record in a national shirt, scoring three in six Nations League games last year. I fancy he will play a big part in Germany going a long way in the 2026 World Cup. He can be one of the tournament's top goalscorers, with four places on offer.
12:00 World Cup 2026

Brazil

50 WIN

@+600

Void

Nobody has won more World Cup tournaments than Brazil, who have five. The last time the United States hosted the finals, it was the Brazilians who beat Italy in the final. Carlo Ancelotti is the coach leading the South Americans now, and with Vinicius Jr and Raphinha on the wings, I fancy Brazil will peak at this World Cup to reach an eighth final and win it for a sixth time.

Brazil

With Scotland and Haiti in their group, I fancy the Samba Boys will play their way into this tournament. Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, I can see Brazil having a big World Cup. The 1994 and 2002 champions are long overdue. After reaching the quarterfinals in 2022, I am siding with Brazil to find form and become six-time winners.

Switzerland are solid at the back with experienced defenders. With the likes of Vargas, N'Doye, Embolo, and Okafor in attack, I am siding with the Swiss to come through as group winners. Group B looks like it could have plenty of draws, and with Bosnia, Canada, and Qatar joining Switzerland, I fancy five points could be enough to top the table.

Won the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock last September and I fancy Big Mojo could land another Group 1 race. Dropping down to five furlongs shouldn't be a concern, and I am siding with Big Mojo to produce a big run in the King Charles III Stakes.

Second, twelve months ago at Royal Ascot and with Good to Firm ideal for Frost At Dawn, I fancy this mare can produce another big run. Third in a Group 1 at York, and I am siding with the American outsider finishing in the first five of the King Charles III Stakes.

The Hugo Palmer runner is definitely worth a look in the Coventry Stakes. I fancy, after winning here last month on the back of a Newmarket Novices win in April, that Adaay Of Scarlett can finish in the top four this afternoon.

Cut A Dash

60 WIN

@+1400

Winner of a Novice Stakes race at the Dante York meeting, and I fancy Cut A Dash has plenty more to offer. Six furlongs on good to firm ground should be right in the wheelhouse of Cut A Dash in the Coventry Stakes, and I am siding with a Group 2 win this afternoon.

Zeus Olympios

23:00 Saudi Arabia v Uruguay

Uruguay

400 WIN

@-222

Lose

-400

Saudi Arabia lost to Mexico and Poland four years ago in the group stage, and I fancy Uruguay will be too strong for them tonight at Hard Rock Stadium. Uruguay qualified fourth from the South American pathway, and they reached the semi-finals two years ago at the Copa América. The Saudis have only won once since December, and I am siding with Bielsa’s Uruguay, starting with a win.

The Real Madrid man netted twice in qualifying over in South America, and he very much is a man for the big game and occasion. Nine goals at club level this past season, and I fancy it's Federico Valverde who fires Uruguay into the lead against Saudi Arabia.

Uruguay #2-1

@+850

Lose

Uruguay reached the semi-finals of the Copa América two years ago, and I fancy they will get out of this group. Saudi Arabia have one win since the start of December, but their domestic game is improving, and I am siding with both teams to score and the class of Uruguay proving the difference in a 2-1 win.
20:00 8:00 Windsor

Echo Of Faith

Winner of a Roscommon maiden last August, and I fancy first time out for a Charlie Wallis yard in good form right now that Echo of Faith can make a real dent in this Windsor handicap. Dropping down to six furlongs will require a quick move, and I am siding with Echo of Faith finishing strong to strike again.
20:00 Belgium v Egypt

Belgium

500 WIN

@-166

Lose

-500

Belgium haven’t lost in fifteen months, and they warmed up for the World Cup with wins against Tunisia and Croatia. Egypt were beaten by Brazil ahead of the tournament, and I fancy the Belgians will have too much quality going forward. I am siding with an opening win for Rudi Garcia’s side.

Jeremy Doku

First Goalscorer

50 WIN

@+700

Lose

The Belgian winger scored eight goals for Manchester City last season and stepped up in some big games to make a real difference. Five goals in qualifying, and with Egypt likely to need some unlocking, I fancy Doku is the man to do it.

Belgium #2-1

56 WIN

@+800

Lose

-56

Egypt were beaten 2-1 by Brazil before the World Cup, and I fancy Belgium will be too good for them tonight. The Belgians are unbeaten in fifteen months, and after wins over Tunisia and Croatia I am siding with Belgium, edging this by the odd goal in three. 2-1 is the play.

Leandro Trossard

Player to be Booked

50 WIN

@+800

Lose

-50

The Belgian can track back and commit some late and cynical challenges, and I fancy the Egyptians will frustrate Belgium for large periods of this game. Two bookings in thirteen for his country isn't surprising, and I am siding with Trossard getting better for Belgium.

Youri Tielemans

Player to be Booked

50 WIN

@+500

-50

Egypt are a very defensive side and I fancy they will be tough to break down. Salah and Marmoush are the danger men for the Africans, and I am siding with Youri Tielemans breaking up the play in between the lines. I am going for the Villa man to be booked.
17:00 Spain v Cape Verde

Spain

300 WIN

@-999

Lose

-300

Spain are the defending European champions, and they won the World Cup as recently as 2010. Iran, Egypt, and Chile have all beaten Cape Verde since the start of last year. I fancy the Spaniards will outclass them to start Group H with a win in Atlanta.

Mikel Oyarzabal

First Goalscorer

80 WIN

@+275

Lose

-80

Six goals in six games in the qualification group, and the Spaniard looks set to be the number nine for the European champions. Thirteen in sixteen for his country, and I am siding with Oyarzabal to score the first goal against Cape Verde.

Spain #3-0

50 WIN

@+550

Lose

-50

The European champions started the last World Cup with a 7-0 win over Costa Rica, and I fancy the 2010 World Cup winners will be quick out of the blocks in this year's tournament. Spain scored three against Peru in their final international before the finals, and I am siding with some Spanish flair in a 3-0 win in Atlanta.
03:00 Sweden v Tunisia

Sweden

50 WIN

@-105

Win

47

Sweden have serious firepower up top with two Premier League strikers in Gyökeres and Isak, and I fancy they will get out of this group. Tunisia haven't scored in their last three internationals over the last two months, and I am siding with Sweden to get the result tonight in Monterrey.

Sweden #1-0

50 WIN

@+550

Lose

-50

Only one of the last six international matches for Tunisia has had over 2.5 goals, and I fancy this will be a close encounter with Sweden. All three head-to-head meetings between these nations ended 1-0, and I fancy that with the Swedish firepower of Gyökeres and Isak they will break down Tunisia and start the World Cup off with a 1-0 win.
00:00 Ivory Coast v Ecuador

Draw

50 WIN

@+189

Lose

-50

With Germany to come in this group, neither Ivory Coast nor Ecuador will want to lose this opening fixture. Both are expected to beat Curaçao, and I fancy this will be a cagey affair. It ends in an under 2.5-goal draw.

Draw #1-1

50 WIN

@+500

Lose

-50

Both Ivory Coast and Ecuador won their two warm-up internationals, and I fancy there won't be much between them in this group opener. Ecuador have drawn two of their last four 1-1, and I am siding with this ending in another under 2.5 score draw in Philadelphia.

10th at the PGA Championship and 12th last week at the Memorial Tournament. I fancy Justin Rose will put another good week together at the RBC Canadian Open. Nick Taylor

43rd last week at the Memorial Tournament could have been so much better after a great start at Muirfield Village. The Canadian returns home with his game in decent shape after a 9th at the Cadillac Championship and 14th at the Truist Championship. He is a former RBC Canadian Open winner, and with home support I fancy his chances this week.

Sam Burns

The American was in the CJ Cup and Byron Nelson last month and finished third last week at the Memorial Tournament. He was 21st at The Masters and 16th at the RBC Heritage before that. The major winner had been trending in the right direction. He was 7th in 2022 at the Canadian Open, and I fancy Wyndham Clark will put another good week together at the RBC in Toronto.
21:00 Netherlands v Japan

Draw

50 WIN

@+259

Win

130

The Dutch failed to impress in their two warm-up friendlies against Algeria and Uzbekistan, and I fancy Japan will cause them problems tonight. Six straight wins for the Japanese, and with the last head-to-head with the Netherlands ending 2-2, I am siding with another score draw.

Tijjani Reijnders

First Goalscorer

50 WIN

@+1200

Six goals in seventeen for the midfielder at international level, and he likes to drive forward. Summerville and Gakpo will stretch Japan, and I fancy Reijnders to score first for the Dutch tonight.

The Netherlands last faced Japan back in 2013, and it ended in a 2-2 draw. As we have seen with South Korea on the opening night, this is going to be a tough group opener for Holland, and I fancy Japan will get something. Six straight wins for Japan, and with the Netherlands stuttering through their warm-up friendlies, I am siding with a 1-1 in Texas.

Scotland

Scotland will be represented by Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies this year, and I fancy the World Cup of Darts could be a perfect fit for Menzies, who has been showing some form on the European Tour of late.
