STEVEOCN's Tips

28th July 2024
15:30 All Ireland Football Championship 2024

Kerry

Win Football

100 WIN

Kerry have reached the final for the last two years and they won their 38th All Ireland Championship in 2022. They have looked the team to beat since clinching the Munster title and I fancy Kerry will go all the way to win the Championship at Croke Park for a 39th time.
9th August 2024
20:00 Barnsley v Mansfield

Draw

50 WIN

Barnsley took more points away from home than they did at Oakwell last season and they face a promoted Mansfield side who had a half dozen away wins in their promotion campaign. They have on their last visit to Barnsley but that was 2002 and I fancy this has the look of a draw on the opening night.
20:00 Blackburn v Derby

Draw

50 WIN

Blackburn Rovers had the second worst home record in the Championship last season and this looks a tricky opener against promoted Derby County. The Rams took the second most points in League One to gain promotion back to the second tier and I fancy they go to Ewood Park and go toe to toe with Rovers, the score draw is the play.

20:00 Chesterfield v Swindon

Chesterfield

50 WIN

Chesterfield took sixty points at home last season in the National League and they will be excited that their return to the football league starts at home. They have won three of the last four against Swindon and the last two at home, I fancy they open League Two on Friday night with a confidence building win.
20:00 Preston v Sheff Utd

Draw

50 WIN

Preston have always been a steady side at home and Prenton Park is never an easy place to go. Three of the last five meetings with Sheffield United ended in draws and I fancy on the opening night they might cancel each other out. The Blades only took six points on the road last season in the Premier League and I get the feeling they might start slow, the draw is the play.
10th August 2024
12:30 Cardiff v Sunderland

Sunderland

50 WIN

The Black Cats have won away at Cardiff City the last two seasons and I fancy they can go to Wales and take all three points on the opening weekend. Sunderland have won four and drawn one of the last six away to Cardiff City and I am siding with them winning in the Welsh capital.
12:30 Hull v Bristol City

Draw

50 WIN

Hull City were hit and miss at home last season and they drew five of their last seven home games at the back end of the Championship campaign. The corresponding fixture last season ended 1-1 when Hull City hosted Bristol City and I fancy a point a piece to open the new season.
12:30 Leeds v Portsmouth

Leeds

50 WIN

Only Ipswich Town won more points at home than Leeds last season and unfortunately they went down to Southampton in the play off final. Elland Road will be bouncing and I fancy United start fast with a high tempo performance that smoothers Pompey. Portsmouth lost on their last visit to Leeds back in 2011 and I am siding with the home win.
12:30 Middlesbrough v Swansea

Middlesbrough

50 WIN

Middlesbrough have done the double over Swansea City the last two seasons in the Championship and they will have been pleased with this opening day fixture. The Swans have lost four in a row at The Riverside Stadium and I fancy Michael Carrick's men start with a win.
12:30 Millwall v Watford

Millwall

50 WIN

The Den is always a tough place to go to and I fancy Millwall will grind out a home win on the opening weekend against The Hornets. The Lions have won at home to Watford the last two seasons and have won three of the last four head to head meetings with the Vicarage Road side, I am siding with a hard fought home win.
12:30 Oxford Utd v Norwich

Draw

50 WIN

It's been twenty five years since Oxford United and Norwich City last faced off and after getting promoted through the play offs I fancy the Kassam Stadium will be rocking on the opening weekend. The Canaries finished sixth last season and were beaten in the play offs, I am siding with both sides having their spells in this opening day contest and I am going to go with the entertaining score draw, one for the neutral.
12:30 QPR v West Brom

Draw

50 WIN

Queens Park Rangers drew 2-2 with West Brom at home last season and they missed a second half penalty. Two of the last three meetings have ended in that scoreline and I fancy on the opening weekend this will be a good game, the score draw is the play at Loftus Road.
12:30 Stoke v Coventry

Coventry

50 WIN

Stoke City struggled at home last season and they had to finish with three straight wins to pull clear of the relegation battle they were very much apart. Coventry's form dipped with the run to the semi final of the FA Cup but they did win 1-0 at Stoke last season and I fancy The Sky Blues can open with an away win against The Potters.
15:00 Doncaster v Accrington Stanley

Doncaster

50 WIN

Doncaster Rovers finished fifth last year in League Two and were beaten in the semi finals of the play offs by Crewe on penalties. Donny won their last eight matches at home to finish the campaign and one of them was a 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley, I fancy Rovers start with a win at the Keepmoat.
17:30 Birmingham v Reading

Birmingham

50 WIN

Birmingham City were relegated from the Championship last season and that was purely down to having the second worse away form in the division. They have always been a good side at St Andrews and they beat Reading at home the season before last, I fancy The Blues start life in League One by making a statement of intent, fortress St Andrews, the home win is the play.
17:30 Stockport v Cambridge Utd

Stockport

50 WIN

The last time these sides met they were both in the Blue Square Premier and that was back in 2013. Stockport won the League Two title last season and their home form was key, they finished the campaign with five straight wins at home. Cambridge United had the second worst away form last season and I fancy County turn it on at Edgeley Park to start with a win.
16th August 2024
20:00 Man Utd v Fulham

Man Utd

50 WIN

The Red Devils finished last season with wins over Newcastle United and Brighton before going to Wembley and beating Manchester City to lift the FA Cup. The new owners have had the pre season and I fancy Manchester United make a statement on the opening night at home to Fulham. Four of the last five head to head went the way of United, the Old Trafford home win with over 2.5 goals is the play.
17th August 2024
12:30 Ipswich v Liverpool

Liverpool

50 WIN

The Tractor Boys have never beaten Liverpool at Portman Road and when they were last in the same division as The Redmen they were beaten 6-0 at home and 5-0 at Anfield. I fancy this will be an open game and we will see the new look Liverpool under Arne Slot play their way through a promoted Ipswich Town side, all in on the away win in the first early kick off of the season.
15:00 Arsenal v Wolverhampton

Arsenal

50 WIN

Arsenal have beaten Wolves home and away for the last three seasons and they were good value for those six wins against Wanderers. The Gunners beat them 2-1 and 5-0 in the two Emirates clashes last year and I fancy The Arsenal start the new season with high hopes, the play is it begins with another home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
3rd January 2025
19:15 PDC World Championship 2025

Michael Smith

50 WIN

Michael Smith won the 2023 World Championship and after a quiet season by his standards leading up to his defence, I fancy we see Bully Boy bounce back in style this year at The Ally Pally. Runner up in 2022, I am siding with the St Helens man going all the way to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy for a second time.

Rob Cross

25 EW

Rob Cross was a beaten semi finalist twelve months ago at the Ally Pally in London and he is a former world champion lifting the Sid Waddell trophy back in 2018. The Englishman tends to produce his best towards the back end of the year at the Grand Slam and Worlds and I fancy Voltage can contend for a second PDC World Title.
