The Eddie & Patrick Harty-trained Irish Panther ran well in some of the top-class handicap hurdles last season, including the County Hurdle where he finished not far behind the subsequent Breeders' Cup winner Ethical Diamond. I think he has a genuine chance of beating the favorite here because he was an easy winner at Clonmel over hurdles last month, whereas The Wallpark hasn't run since Aintree in April.

Robert Walford's Hipop Des Ongrais is having his first run for almost two years here. His trainer has always thought highly of Hipop Des Ongrais, and back in 2022, as a five-year-old, he beat the now 138-rated Forward Plan by eleven lengths in a two-and-a-half-mile chase at Fontwell. He probably isn't as good as that anymore, and his fitness has to be taken on trust, but off a mark of 114, he might have a bit too much for today's opposition.
