Richard Fahey is not having the best of seasons this year, but I think he could have a better day today. His horse, Watchdog, has impressed me in all three of his career starts to date, and today makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 58. Last time out over six furlongs here, he was given a tender ride after his chance had gone. Today, stepping up to a mile and with Billy Garrity taking over in the saddle, I expect a better performance from him.

Noel Meade's Billie Frechette looked a very unlucky loser on her penultimate start when finishing a half-length runner-up in the Ulster Cesarewitch at Down Royal last month. That day she encountered multiple incidents of her path being blocked and had to be switched left inside the final furlong and ridden. She still stayed on well to get second close home. She then found the mile and a half trip too sharp on her next outing, at the same venue two weeks ago, but still finished a respectable third, two and three-quarters of a length behind the winner.
