Sandy Thomson's Dedicated Hero has an each-way chance in this year's Greatwood. The six-year-old has won twice at Kelso on soft ground last season. He also won a Grade Two novice hurdle at Haydock on heavy ground and has had a prep run at Carlisle over two and a half miles to get him ready for this race.

The Skeltons can't seem to stop having winners at the moment and can have another here with their recruit from the Dr. Richard Newland stable, Mirabad, whose last win came in a two-mile Handicap Hurdle by five lengths on the new course here in December for his previous trainer. It looks like he has been laid out for this year's Greatwood.

A bad mistake at the sixth fence put paid to the chances of the Tom Mullins-trained Fascile Mode when subject of a bit of a gamble, 25/1 into 12/1 at the October meeting here. Eventually, he finished eighth. Today, he is stepped up in trip to three miles three furlongs, and with a better round of jumping, he has a good chance of getting compensation this afternoon.

Gordon Elliott runs seven in this year's Troytown, and of his runners, I think that the best value is an each-way bet on Fortunedefortuna. If he can bounce back from a very disappointing run in the Cork National earlier this month. He almost threw away his win in the Grand National trial at Punchestown in February, idling badly after the last fence before he rallied and stayed on well to regain the lead inside the final furlong. He is a pound lower than when winning that day, and Jake Coen returns to the saddle carrying a low weight of 10-2.

French import Kim Roque, who is making his stable debut for Joseph O'Brien here, is something of an unknown quantity. So far in his career, he has only run in France on heavy ground. He does, however, have more experience than most of his rivals today and should be suited by these ground conditions. He has won over both hurdles and fences, and last time finished a two-length second in a two-mile five-furlong Listed chase at Dieppe to a horse who won very easily on his debut.

The Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies trained Matata has a great chance of upsetting the favorite Jonbon here. Twelve months ago, Jonbon got a soft lead and won this race comfortably. That is very unlikely today, and when Jonbon is under pressure, his jumping gets extremely suspect. If that happens, Matata could be there to pick up the pieces. Matata is also on offer at 5/1 in the betting without market, which I think is great value.

Ben Pauling runs two here: King Of The Road and my choice, bottom weight As Legends Have It, who has proven soft ground form. His bumper form includes a win on soft at Ffos Las as well as a second on heavy at Stratford. Last season, his first over timber, he ran well until tiring at Chepstow in February over two and a half miles on soft ground. Jamie Snowden's horses have been on fire recently, as demonstrated by his 48% strike rate in the last two weeks. He can have another winner here with La Marquise, whose sole win from her three starts over hurdles came in a two-mile novice race at Ludlow around this time last year, where she overcame being badly hampered three out to get her head in front. Following that win, she was tried against better class opposition at Newbury, where after being heavily backed down to 11/10 favorite, her tendency to jump left cost her, and she finished a disappointing eighth of the eleven runners. On her seasonal debut at Ludlow five weeks ago over two miles and five furlongs, she made a mistake two out before finishing fifth. Today, she drops back to two miles and two furlongs and has cheekpieces fitted for the first time. She is also reunited with Gavin Sheehan, who rode her to her only win this afternoon.

Next time out, he unseated his rider at Market Rasen. Since then, he has only run once over hurdles, finishing fifth at Carlisle.
