The Oliver Signy-trained Its Top won a bumper here in November 2024 and finished a respectable 13-length second to subsequent Supreme Novices' Hurdle runner-up Sober Glory on his hurdling debut in a Newbury novice in January. He followed that by making all when winning a Carlisle novice hurdle in February. He then completely failed to get into the race on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter 19 days ago. I can only assume that the soft ground didn't suit him there. He should be much happier on today's sounder conditions.

Sam England's Glory And Honour returns to fences here after a 173-day break. The ten-year-old likes it here at Hexham, where he has recorded form figures reading 2, 1, 3. He is now down to the same mark as when last winning here in June of last year. He also goes well when fresh; he won the Flat at Pontefract in 2024 after an 85-day layoff on the last occasion he returned from a break of longer than 50 days.
