The John and Thady Gosden-trained Hatour has run well in both his career starts, which were over seven furlongs. First he was fourth at Newmarket, then he stayed on strongly for third on Lingfield's all-weather surface 17 days ago. The step up to a mile here looks like it will suit him, and I think there’s more improvement to come.

Nitty Gritty ran his best race for Mark Walford since joining his yard from Joseph O'Brien when runner-up at Kelso earlier this month. He was still travelling well before being badly hampered by a faller and unseating his rider at Uttoxeter two weeks ago. I think he has a good chance here off a mark of 100 minus Charlie Maggs' three lb claim.

Tim Easterby's veteran Garden Oasis loves it here at Ripon, where he has won seven times. The eleven-year-old ran a fine race over a mile at Ayr last week, keeping on really well to finish about a quarter length behind the winner in third place. He gets in here five lbs below the most recent of last season's three wins, and returning to his favourite course today he must have a great chance.

Win

The Ismail Mohammed-trained Lord Britain won over tonight's C&D on just his second racecourse appearance. Next time out, he finished a respectable third here. After that, he was last of the eight runners in the Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket, before finishing fourth in a six-furlong conditions race here on his seasonal debut in March. He then once again took on some high-class rivals in the Group One 2000 Guineas which, off a mark of 83, was an impossible task; he only beat three horses home. Here, back in low-grade handicap company, he has a good chance over a course that he likes.

Ismail Mohammed's Khaleejy travelled well before scoring on his belated debut as a five-year-old over this evening's seven-furlong trip at Newcastle at the beginning of the month. Joseph O'Brien has four runners in today's renewal of the Lanwades, and I think the most likely winner is the choice of Dylan Browne McMonagle, Celestial Orbit, who was a Listed winner as a two-year-old. She finished thirteenth in last year's French 1,000 Guineas while trained by Ollie Sangster. She then won the Group Three Park Express over this C&D last month on her stable debut for the O'Brien yard, beating her stablemate Princess Child (who re-opposes here) by half a length.

Sara Ender's Highfield Jewel was well beaten when finishing last of the six runners at Ripon over six furlongs on her turf debut earlier this month, but she should be fitter after that first run since January. -50

Daniel & Claire Kubler have yet to get into their stride this season, but they have a chance here with their front-running veteran, Percys Lad. He is now eight years old and probably not as good as he once was, but he's extremely well handicapped, having been dropped seven lbs by the handicapper for his two most recent runs, which came after 620 days off the track. This looks a much weaker race than his last two, and there is not a great deal of opposition on the front end. There is a chance he might get a soft lead here and, hopefully, hang on for a place at least.

Currently trained by James Barcoe, Half Nutz has been through many yards since the last of his six career wins over today's seven-furlong trip at the Curragh back in 2022, while still an inmate of the Johnny Murtagh stable. Following that win, he was raised nine lbs by the handicapper to a career-high mark of 85. He gets in here off a career low of 40, minus the ten-pound claim of today's jockey. With five places being paid here, I think he could be worth a small each-way bet in the hope that he retains some of his old ability.
