Once an inmate of the Dan Skelton yard, now trained by James Moffatt, Book of Secrets, to put it mildly, has not fulfilled his early potential. Now eight, he has only won one of his eighteen starts over hurdles, that coming in a Market Rasen maiden back in 2023 while he was with the Charles & Adam Pogson stable. Recently he has shown signs of life, particularly two runs back when, only going down by a head in a two-mile handicap at Newton Abbot, he followed that with a seventh-place finish at Carlisle in December. He gets in here today off the low mark of 107, minus Leah Noreci's 10 lb claim. Although very unreliable, with only four places being paid, he may be worth a few quid each way here.

Gordon Elliott's Golden Joy's best run to date came when he won a beginners' chase over today's C&D last season. Last time out, on his seasonal debut, he finished fourth at Naas, beating Win Some Lose Some, who finished runner-up in yesterday's Leopardstown handicap in the process. That day he travelled well but looked in need of the race. Today's heavy ground should suit, and if the first-time visor has the desired effect, he is a good each-way bet.

Gordon Elliott’s Prends Garde A Toi clearly does not stay three miles, as he has shown when pulling up at Punchestown in November and failing to get home at Naas three weeks ago. He has, however, been quite effective over shorter distances in both his other runs over fences, including when getting home late in testing conditions over two and a half miles at Naas in December. Today's extended two-mile five-furlong trip could prove ideal, with cheekpieces fitted for the first time. He is certainly an each-way bet for me.
