Daragh Bourke's Irish import, Saxon Grace, has a chance here on her stable/UK debut. She showed potential as a juvenile in Ireland last year when finishing fourth and then third at Sligo and Dundalk, respectively. This is a very mediocre handicap, and she has been up against stronger opposition before. She is a great each-way bet here.

James Owen's horses continue to be in the same good form they have been all season. Fergal O'Brien's horses are running well at the moment. His Heart Over Head, who is obviously something of a handful as he wears a red hood to post, got off the mark at the seventh attempt with a convincing 15-length win in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter. He followed that with an impressive two-length win at Market Rasen in a grade-higher race. Last time out, when stepping up in grade again at Ascot, he made a disastrous mistake at the third flight and ended up tailed off. I am going to forgive him that run and hope that today, where he is dropping back in grade, he can return to winning ways.

No matter whose name is on the licence, currently it is Cath's due to Even's legal problems. The Williams stable is in great form at the moment. They scored a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and also had the runner-up in the Champion Chase. Today they could keep that good run going with their handicap debutante Sioux Falls, who won a point-to-point at Fairyhouse last year and showed he had progressed by finishing third at Sedgefield at the beginning of last month. Off an opening mark of 102, I think he has a good chance here.

With two winners, Jonjo and AJ O'Neill had a good Cheltenham Festival. Here they run their seven-year-old mare Rula Bula. After winning at Carlisle on her reappearance in October, she disappointed when backed down to favourite last time out, before only finishing fifth of the eight runners at Newbury in December. That form was boosted when the winner, White Noise, landed the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Festival. Rula Bula finished eleven lengths behind her in that Newbury race, and a repeat of that run could be enough here.

They scored a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and also had the runner-up in the Champion Chase. Today they could add a second Midlands Grand National, having won this race ten years ago with Firebird Flyer. This year's successes include their eight-year-old Neo King, who is a dour stayer. He was third at Haydock last time out in the Grand National Trial at Haydock, finishing behind a few of these. He should relish today's soft ground.

This race over two miles two furlongs looks perfect for him, and off a mark of 126 he definitely can win today.

You could do a lot worse than have a small each-way bet on Faye Bramley's Lord Byron in this year's Triumph Hurdle. Last time out he finished fourth in a Kelso Grade Two over two furlongs further. After making a mistake at the last, he weakened on the run-in. Dropping back to two miles will suit him here, and with Ben Jones booked he could get placed at least at huge odds.
