Paul Nicholls is having a quiet season by his very high standards, but his Him Malaya, who finished fourth to Celtic Art and American Sniper over this C&D four weeks ago in the race he won the previous year, can give him a winner this afternoon. The seven-year-old was beaten just under five lengths there and would have been a lot closer if he had jumped the last better. Today he is better off in the weights and can win this under his trainer's daughter Olive, who is off her five-pound claim.

Now trained by Debra Hamer, I Am Spider Man won two handicap hurdles at Sligo in 2024 while still an inmate of the Charles Byrne yard. The six-year-old showed signs of a return to form when finishing about ten lengths behind the winner, when sixth in a Taunton handicap nine days ago. The handicapper knocked a couple of lbs off his handicap mark for that run, leaving him two more lbs below his last winning mark. With four places being paid, he has to be a sound each-way bet here.

15 of the John Jenkins-trained Sir Rodneyredblood's 16 wins have come on an artificial surface, the last of those coming at Chelmsford last February off a mark of 57. He gets in here off a career-low mark of 53. Although he is not as good as he once was, he comes here on the back of a good run at Kempton where he finished fifth to Magna over six furlongs last month, when three of the first four home were three-year-olds. He has a great chance here from the plum draw in stall one.
