Gavin Cromwell's Individualiste's last win came in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase at this meeting last year. His recent form has been poor; he has been pulled up on his last three starts. One of those was when he was 100-1 for the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival, and another was over hurdles, while the latest came after 194 days off. He probably needed that run after such a break, and he remains lightly raced and open to further improvement over fences. This will be only his ninth chase start. I think, with four places being paid, he is a decent each-way bet.

The best of them is JPR One, whose last win came 400 days ago off a four lb lower mark, when beating subsequent Charlie Hall Chase winner Djelo, who was receiving two lbs, by a comfortable three-quarters of a length. He followed up with a good third-place finish in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek at Sandown. He was last seen finishing a reasonably close third in the Hurst Park Handicap Chase at Ascot three weeks ago and looks capable of winning this.

The Sarah-Jayne Davies-trained Nine Nine Nine has a great record here at Leicester. Both of his two wins, including one over today's C&D, have come here. He has also finished runner-up twice and third on two further occasions. Indeed, the only time he has finished outside the first three here was when he was hampered and unseated his rider at the fourth fence in a novice chase in January last year. He made his seasonal debut at Uttoxeter two weeks ago, where he was understandably rusty after an eight-month break. Today he runs off a career-low mark of 82, which is five lbs below his best winning mark, and is back at a course that clearly suits him. I think he has a great chance.
