Julie Camacho has her string in fine fettle, as her 25% strike rate in the last two weeks shows. She can keep that good run going here with Mayo County. He returned after 139 days off by finishing tenth of eleven over this C&D in December, after being repeatedly denied a clear run. Next time out, in refitted cheekpieces, he finished just a length and a quarter behind the winner at Newcastle. The headgear remains on today, and with Tom Kiely-Marshall taking off his five-pound claim, I think he can go in here.

All three of Kevin Frost's My Boy Jack's wins have come over today's C&D. Although he hasn't got his head in front for a year and a half, he could bounce back at his favourite course this afternoon. Dual course winner Annandale was winless for three seasons until current trainer Jim Goldie worked his magic, and he won at Ayr in October 2024. Three more wins have followed, including one here. Nick Gifford could have a good day at Lingfield today, including winning the Surrey National with his progressive son of Soldier of Fortune, Aworkinprogress, who completed a five-timer over fences by winning his seasonal debut at Uttoxeter in November. He then finished a disappointing fifth when sent off 15-8 favourite in the Welsh Grand National Trial at Chepstow at the beginning of December. I don't know why he ran so badly that day, but I think if he had skipped that race and was coming here with his unbeaten record over fences still intact, he would be a lot shorter price today.

Ben Pauling's horses are in a rich vein of form at the moment, as shown by his 21% strike rate in the last two weeks. He can take this year's renewal of the Fleur de Lys Chase with Handstands, who ran well for a long way in the Betfair Chase over three miles one furlong at Haydock, where he only fell away on the run-in when last seen in November. Today's shorter trip will suit him better, and he has undergone wind surgery since. Although giving eight lbs to last year's winner Protektorat will be difficult, I think Pauling's seven-year-old is capable of doing it.

Tony Bloom's six-year-old gelding won a decent bumper at Kelso last season and finished fourth on his hurdling debut at Market Rasen before filling the same position but finishing much closer to the winner at Taunton in December.
