The former Fergal O'Brien-trained mare Jakana made a decent stable debut for Leonard Kerr with a close second at Hexham in June, but has been disappointing in her four starts since. However, last time’s fifth of 11 at Musselburgh showed something of a return to form. Her last win came nearly a year to the day ago at Sedgefield, and the booking of Brian Hughes is encouraging; she could go in here this time from her career-low mark.

The William Haggas-trained Luminare has won two of her six starts. Today she steps up to a mile for the first time. She wasn't at her best last time out over seven furlongs at Southwell and may need the new trip to spark extra.

The Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore partnership can have a winner here with their front-runner Fox's Fancy. Her best run to date came when she was beaten a short head in a Mares' Handicap Hurdle here over two miles five furlongs last March. In her other three runs at this course, the worst she has finished is fourth, making her a reasonable each-way bet.

The Mark Pattinson-trained Penfolds Grange has undergone wind surgery since finishing fifth at Chelmsford over a mile 59 days ago. The extra two furlongs of today's trip should also suit him.

Jonjo and A. J. O'Neill's horses have started to run well, and their Collectors Item, who struggled to land a blow on Chepstow ground faster than ideal in the Welsh National last time out after running really well when runner-up in the trial for it on his penultimate start, can take this. The nine-year-old goes well around here, being a previous winner of the Somerset National.

Nick Alexander's Ballyfort can continue his good form this year by taking his third win over this C&D this afternoon. After a rather lucky win at Kelso in October, he finished third at the same venue in November after a mistake three out. He returned to winning ways in novice company over today's C&D a month ago. He comes in off just a three lb higher mark and can go in again today.
