The selection won the Welsh National in 2024 with this jockey on board, so does have what it takes to win this marathon race and is only 3lbs higher than when winning that. Mr Vango puts a few of these out the handicap and looking at the trends only one horse has won it carrying over 11st 1lbs since 2014, and none older than 9 since 2017. Yard is in decent form and this horse has won a couple of GP3 HCPs so this could be a good spot.

This horse won the race last year and has an excellent record at the track in general (2 wins, 3 places from 4 runs). Horse is 2 from 3 over this trip at the track and has good record on this going with 3 wins 5 places from 7 runs on heavy. Won this race carrying 1lb more last year on heavy, so despite being 6lbs higher rated this year, has proven ability to lug around this weight over this trip on heavy which none of the others can claim. Yard and jockey are bang in form and I think 7/1 looks like a good price given all the points made.

Aggagio is a little hit and miss but the record over this trip on this going reads 4 wins from 4 runs (in both flat and hurdle races). Given that record, 14/1 with 4 places feels like a good value price. Trainer and jockey are, its fair to say, not in the best form but yard does have a great long term record at this track, jockey takes off useful lbs but has yet to prove his worth.

with 4 places it might be worthwhile backing this 12/1 shot for a place. They reach for some new headgear and this horse has breeding that suggests this might be an ok trip despite it not having won over it before. Things that I like are the jockey who has won 5 times on this horse from 6 rides, and that he has won off a higher mark in the past. I liked those at the top of the market, particularly wyld bill, but he's drawn in the car park and his jockey is not having a good time lately...

22/1 seems like a decent enough price for the selection who is 3 wins from 4 races in chases in his lifetime. Lightly raced for a 9yo having had just 9 races so far. Doesn't mind a bit of cut and the recent run can be forgiven following a year or so off before that, it was a hurdle race and over too long a trip, ran well for the first 2 miles... HAs won off this mark before and the jockey claim will prove useful. Seems a bit of value in an open enough looking race.
