Ran better than for a while at Windsor two starts ago when third over two and a half miles, finishing the race off well, but failed to back that up over a significantly longer trip back there next time. A return to three miles last time at Sandown saw a stronger performance when sixth of eight, not beaten that far. Kept to that trip here from a 2 lb lower mark makes him worth considering.

Made a promising Rules debut at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, finishing 4th in a reasonable Class 2 event over 20f. He was staying on nicely then. While he finished last of three at Hereford two starts ago, he seemed to find the trip on the short side. He ran poorly over a longer trip on his handicap debut last time at Taunton. Connections made an early switch to chasing with him at this track over a shorter trip. He wasn't disgraced in finishing 3rd, shaping as though a longer trip like this would suit, so looks an interesting runner.

Had been off for 12 months when his attention was turned to hurdles rather than fences. He finished a close-up 2nd in his first three starts, all over two miles. He went up in trip for his handicap debut in a more competitive race and found the test too much. He should stay this far, and hopefully he can get back on track eased in grade.

Appeared to be close to his best when finishing fourth over 2m1f at Ludlow back in February, when he finished the race off in good style. He failed to build on that apparent improvement when pulled up over this trip at Newcastle last time. He was never really travelling then, so needs to bounce back if he’s to capitalise on a falling mark.

Stepped up on his previous efforts over hurdles when making his handicap debut over two miles at Ludlow last time. Appeared to be given plenty to do and was never nearer than at the line. That run gives hope for better to come, and, having been eased a couple of lbs by the handicapper, shouldn’t be far away.

Ran better than the result might suggest last time at Taunton. He finished sixth, but having been given plenty to do, did well to get within seven lengths of the eventual winner. His mark continues to drop and he seems unlikely to be far away as he drops in class.

Put up an improved performance on his 2nd start over hurdles when 2nd in a big-field novice at Huntingdon but was below that level last time at Wincanton when in midfield; he was too keen. He is built for chasing, but there should be further improvement to come over hurdles before making that switch. He looks the one to give the short-priced favourite a race here.

Bounced back to form at Wetherby two starts ago when 6th of 9 in a 19f handicap, having been pulled up on his previous three starts. He failed to build on that, though, when stumbling and unseating at the 9th over a slightly longer trip at Doncaster last time. Those poor runs have dropped his mark by 15 lbs, and he now races off a mark 8 lbs below his last winning mark. He will need to jump better if he’s to feature or capitalise on it.

Took a step up from hurdles debut when a close-up 4th over 17f at this track two starts ago, defying odds of 50/1. Ran to a similar level at Newcastle last time when occupying the same finishing position. Shaped as though further would ideally suit on both of those starts and goes up in trip for this handicap debut in a first-time tongue tie. Looks interesting.

A useful hurdler. He was pulled up on his debut over fences at Chepstow in early December when he was never jumping well. He was given a short break following that run and was much better next time at Musselburgh, when he finished a keeping-on 2nd over 20f. He moved up in trip at Newbury last time, but his jumping wasn't fluent and he was a well-beaten 4th of 5. There is scope to win over the larger obstacles. Perhaps first-time headgear will help in that aspect, and if so he is a decent chance.

Been showing slow but steady improvement since returning to action following a seven-month break and put up his best effort this season at Sandown three starts ago. That saw him finish 2nd over two miles, but mistakes impacted his performance and he was an early faller over the same C&D on his next outing. He still has issues with his jumping, but that didn’t stop him finishing a close 2nd over this C&D last time. The ability to win over fences is there, and if he cuts the mistakes out he goes close.

A winner of his sole start in points, he made his Rules debut at Newcastle in November over an extended 20f, finishing sixth. He didn’t get a hard ride then but was disappointing on his next two starts at Bangor and Uttoxeter. Both of those starts were on heavy ground, and he posted a much better effort at Newcastle last time when making his handicap debut on better ground. Ground conditions should be fine, and from a 1 lb lower mark he should go close in first-time tongue tie.

Placed in a couple of Irish points, there was promise to take from her rules/hurdles debut at Catterick in December when she was 4th over two miles. She was below that level three weeks later at Taunton, finishing in midfield over an extended two miles, but has posted two improved efforts since at Ayr and Exeter, both on heavy ground. There should be more to come, and she is worth a second look.

Was back in novice company last time at Exeter and ran a cracker to be edged out in a photo finish over two miles but helped by the stiff nature of that track and heavy ground. Kept to that trip here on better ground but can’t be left out of calculations .

Having shown useful form on the flat, he made a promising start over hurdles at Musselburgh at the end of November, finishing a close 2nd. He again ran well at Catterick over a similar trip. A return visit to Musselburgh next time saw him finish 2nd for the third time and he wasn’t beaten far. He failed to land the odds last time at Kelso when tackling soft ground for the first time over hurdles. He goes up in trip for his handicap debut, which should be fine, and with better ground likely he can get off the mark over hurdles.

Having shown a bit more at Southwell two starts ago, he was sent up in trip for his handicap debut here last time. He was quite well supported in the market but was eventually pulled up, seemingly unsuited by the very testing conditions. He drops back to two miles here from the same handicap mark and can hopefully build on that previous effort racing on better ground.
