I have been a member of Olbg since September 2009 and must say it's one of the most user friendly sites out there. The fact all tips, comments, stats & performances are recorded and available for inspection it really does mean you have to bring a professional approach. You are judged on what you say and do, so I will do my best to help others along the way in our journey to prise some profit out of those miserly bookies. I am a genuine horse racing enthusiast and have spent (or some might say wasted!) over 30 years as an avid punter and the beauty is I am still learning. This site definitely helps as the information and knowledge of other members available is excellent.....and free. My other hobbies are photography and cricket, I'm the current Skipper of Seveno CC a south London friendly cricket team and we're always looking for new players. I'm also a keen photographer and have captured some great memories especially from Cheltenham and if any photos catch your eye, please get in touch. For me, all roads from about November lead to the greatest sporting event of the year, The Cheltenham Festival and I have been going nearly every year since 1998. The memories, stories, good punts & bad will make a great book one day! I always look for value and hopefully a few juicy punts click on here. I would say horse racing is my game but I do like the odd dabble in the golf, boxing & cricket markets. Enjoy the ride!

Out of a very good mare for the yard who went well around this track and, in fact, was a Grade 1 winner in a mares' race here back in the day. Bred for the job and interesting connections start off here on a belated debut. The only one without a run but well-bred and the yard's only runner, so I'd be surprised if not ready to roll for a yard who are 12-40 at a 30% strike rate in bumpers in Ireland this season.

How good does this one's Aintree Grade 1 win over Grey Dawning last spring now? He proved his stamina for 3m that day too so though this looks a prep for the King George I think he can serve it up to Fact To File here especially if ground is really testing. Has gone well fresh before too and is hard to believe he is only a 7yo as seems to have been around for ever. Can prove that just a stronger finisher here and though was beaten by Fact To File in a match race in 2024 didn't seem right that day and us better away from Leopardstown anyway. A race that will line up all the protagonists for the big pots this season and I fancy Gaelic Warrior to really make the dour stayers struggle as is not devoid of pace himself and can either make all or track Fact To File and prove too strong close home.

By the far the best hurdler in here and though The Big Westerner is feared I feel she'll be better over even further in time. Form is rock solid and beating the likes of Spindleberry over hurdles looks better now as that one is a Listed Chase winner now. Only defeats at Cheltenham in top company and looks a chaser on paper so might have too much class for these and too much toe for main rival. Even money looks a steal.

On the upgrade and though is stepping up in class here comes here on such a roll will be hard to beat against some exposed sorts. Was a good second to Will The Wise at this track in January and that one went on to finish 6th at Cheltenham in the Pertemps final before switching to fences and has since finished 4th in a Troytown. Tenuous links of form I know but this one looks totally progressive and has been winning in the fashion of a horse going places as a staying hurdler.

Won the La Touché Cup with some of these behind and is probably the least exposed in these unique races so is my idea of the winner. Doesn't win nearly as much as he should but is only an 8yo and though seems better on better ground should relish heavy ground according to his pedigree, as is by Mastercraftsman. Was 6th in the Cheltenham Cross Country race last December again ahead of The Goffer and Vanillier so might be the value bet here. Given pipe openers over hurdles and has a good record at Punchestown ax is 1212 from 4 visits here. Proved stays all day in the La Touché and can land this for inform yard.

I was all over this one at Exeter last time out as he attempted to win the Haldon Cup for the second year running but he ran as if he needed the pipe opener as gave way to the two horses who'd had a run. With yard in flying form now, they've nailed 15 winners from 50 runners this month alone he looks sure to run well today. Ascot debut but has good form on stiff right handed tracks and first time cheek pieces are slapped on so hopefully they can eke out a tad more improvement. He's 2lb lower than last time, but only 2lb higher than when winning last year's Haldon Cup beating the tip top Djelo and the first time tongue tie worked the oracle that day. Trip and ground spot on and looks well handicapped to me and on a line through Sans Bruit just could pip Teddy Blue despite that one looking an improver.

Is potentially the best horse in here in my opinion and will be hard to beat in this off level weights with chief rival Haiti Coleurs who though respected still has a bit to find. The Skeltons have been in smashing form this season and have set their stall out to smash the possibility of a Mullins challenge for the trainer's title out of the water by landing the big Saturday pots so I'll say Grey Dawning will be spot on. Second to Royale Pagaille in this last year but that was on his ground and on slightly better going I'm wagering Grey Dawning will hold on this time being a year older too. Tip top novice who can only improve as a chaser this season and I fancy him strongly to have that better bit of pace over this trip than the strong staying Rebecca Curtis horse.

Developed into a high class hurdler last season and went through the grades winning the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham before finding only the high class Lossiemouth too good at Aintree. Getting weight from all gives her every chance despite seasonal debut and this strong travelling mare can get a nice lead from the likes of Crambo and Celtic Dino who like to get on with things. Interesting starts off here and the step up in trip looks sure to suit too and Danny Gilligan gets a fine tune out of this classy sort.

Is a horse I've always liked and hacked up on seasonal reappearance in the manner I always thought was in the locker. Was obviously very well in there off a 9lb lower mark, but has serious potential as a staying hurdler and despite that 9lb hike must be followed here. Not sure this race is even as strong as the one he made his handicap debut in last time and I'm expecting a massive run. Gets on well with Harry Cobden but he is elsewhere so Ben Jones is a very eyecatching booking. Wasn't disgraced in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett last season and I think it's only a matter of time before he's back in graded races. Stays well, travels well and won't mind the ground. Huge chance.

I fancy this fella strongly despite the fact he will get outpaced at some stage, but he will relish the step back up in trip. Put in a remarkable performance to win the Arkle last season and powered home off a strong pace so if Il Est Francais sets the right fractions he may well set this up for another strong finish from this likeable sort. Finished last season in the Manifesto at Aintree and would of reeled in Gidleigh Park there in another stride or two behind Impaire Et Passe, so with a bit extra distance here can reverse the places. Goes well fresh and has won around here before too, so I fancy him strongly to reel in Il Est Francais and Gidleigh Park who may well set this race up perfectly for my punt.

Was probably a race too far last season when down the field here in the Grade 1 Stayers Hurdle at the spring festival but had earlier ran a blinder in the Cheltenham version for such a young horse. Has run well the last twice now switched to fences and can take high rank amongst this season's novice chasers. Won well on debut and impressed with his jumping that day and ran well again next time when stepping up into Listed class. Was only run out of it late on by Blizzard Of Oz who'd already shown a good level of form over fences. Sets the standard and can win before a crack at bigger pots.

Win on seasonal debut last season here at Ascot and had the likes of the Champion hurdle winner Golden Ace and this seafon's Grade 2 winner Colonel Mustard behind that day. Was disgraced in the Grade 1 Stayer hurdle at Cheltenham taking on the big boys and is a likeable sort. Probably one race too many at Sandown at the end of last season and can win on chase bow here. Could be the Harry Fry star and flagship horse of the season as has made a really good impression so far. Made debut in that strong Newton Abbot bumper that has worked out well with 8 of the 10 runners as stated earlier all winning bumpers and hurdles races since. Finished the season when 6th in the champion bumper at Cheltenham and had made a fine start over hurdles beating the decent Gaelic Pride this season. That one and the third have both franked the form since with another 2nd and 3rd respectively in a strong Cheltenham maiden hurdle since too. Harry Cobden a very interesting booking as he is 5-15 at a 33% strike in bumpers alone this season. I was hoping for a better run from Dreal Deal yesterday, who chased home this progressive sort in a Listed event at Killarney in August. But it shouldn't detract that this horse is seriously on the upgrade. Has rattled off a hat-trick since adopting front-running tactics, and that way will help him keep out of trouble here, as it will be tough to make up ground on today's going. Stable jockey's choice of yard's two runners, and I'd say Mr. de Bromhead will want to win this in honor of the late great Edward O'Grady, who was the last Irish-based trainer to land this. Jumps well and has won on heavy and looks a cracking EW play as could go well from the front. I backed him at the Cheltenham Festival and he rewarded EW punt at big odds hanging on to 5th to Caldwell Potter in a Grade 2. Had good Cheltenham form previously when 2nd and 3rd to the top notch Ginny's Destiny over around this trip on other two starts here. Nearly won a Welsh National on seasonal reappearance last season so this should be a walk in the park! Trainer is proving a brilliant schemer at plotting up his targets and I like this one's profile. Know he'll handle the ground and I think he'll win a very big pot this season so whatever he does today keep an eye on him but record fresh suggests he could well win this. Looks the class angle to my untrained eye and with 5 places on offer was close to be the EW Nap today. Come on Sammy Bhoy you've been filling my mate's loyal followers coffees lovely this season!

I'm still rueing this one tipping up late on in the Queen Mother last season as I'm sure would of at least finished second and ahead of Jonbon. Might be talking out of my pocket as has a lovely bet on at fancy prices but was travelling strongly after missing the kick a bit when getting outpaced. Was a good second in the Hrand Annual the year before on bad ground and goes well around here. Can stalk these with Cobden back onboard and he was gutted he never won the Grand Annual on this fella as I was as was there that day and really thought he'd get up. Compensation awaits as will relish conditions and is lightly enough raced to think can still prove top notch at this level. Will get a good tow from Matata and as I believe would of passed Jonbon in March have to go in again at the prices. Think he has a massive chance as goes well fresh too and this C&D winner might be worth a punt for the big one again.

Kept good company over hurdles last season and wasn't disgraced at the Cheltenham Festival in the Pertemps Final. Chance of taking to fences and handles heavy ground and shapes like a strong stayer. Shrewd yard are in good form and ran well on heavy ground on last year's reappearance so can go well fresh. Probably not as classy as some of these but lthey looks a stayer in the making and if prepped enough at home can go close on chase debut.

Lightly enough raced for a 10yo and has really turned a corner for new yard. Won on debut for stable before running a cracking second behind Henry de Bromhead's Coming Up Easy. I like that progressive sort's chances in the Paddy Power tomorrow so hopefully this fella can give it a firm boost. Has won on heavy and does stay this trip well enough. Ran well again last time over hurdles so chase mark wasn't inflated again and looks on a fair mark to run a big race given won't mind heavy going. Has a touch of class as was a Grade 2 winning hurdler on heavy ground and is another EW player.

Was progressive last season and holds a verdict over Marlacoo when they met on heavy ground at Sandown in January. Obviously fitness has to be taken on trust but will relish the going if it is really testing and stays this trip well. Got up the hill well at Sandown and has won at Leicester which is stiff enough too so has stamina assured. Goes well for young Bradley Harris and though pulled up on final start last season when a well backed favourite is lightly enough raced to think can improve again this season. Ran ok on last season's reappearance so hopefully can do so again and at the prices compared to Marlacoo looks the value. EW squeak if prepped enough for seasonal debut.

Did finish last season on a low and has bled so does come with warning signs but first time up is the time to catch him and looks on a fair mark. Was most progressive last season and will like the ground too so makes plenty of appeal over these fences. Booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye obviously and he has been tremendous on the likes of Resplendent Grey and Haiti Coleurs recently. Can see this one winning or pulling up if any issues resurface but is a chaser to follow, stays this trip well, will like the ground and has fair novice form. Thought good enough to tackle the Grade 1 Kauto Star last season but unseated early there and should be happier going left handed again here. Record fresh is impressive.

421 from three starts at the track and sure to strip fitter for debut run in second just 11 days ago to the decent looking Doctor Kildare. That one himself had turned out quickly and gone in again so I fancy this strong staying C&D winner to do the same. Off the same mark as last time and just 2lb higher than win here last season and must be respected. Yard in cracking form with 6 of the last 10 sent out winning. Will handle decent ground too and as caught my eye more than once last season has to be backed here and can go close

Consistent sort who will run well as probably failed to stay last time despite rallying well so drop in trip will suit. Looked all over the winner last time out before fading late on and will bounce off decent ground here. Goes well for young claimer and is a likeable sort who mostly runs his race. A stiff 2m looks ideal and though creeping up in the weights looks on a fair mark with the handy 5lb off. Mad to think this one chased home Kel Du Large home once in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham nearly 2 years ago and is a decent sort. Looks the EW bet of the day for me.

Obviously the Nicholls fav will be the better long term prospect but hasn't fared well on stiff tracks and might be better on a flatter deck. Last year's winner won this first time up last season and that was second year on the bounce won on seasonal reappearance. Jumps these stiff fences with aplomb and will bounce of decent ground. Yard starting to click and thought plenty have needed the run they have had winners first time up after a break. Looks a good thing to me given this is his Gold Cup.....literally.

2/2 in bumpers including here on debut before following up in a Listed event at Cheltenham. Won on hurdles debut to remain debut and though hasn't been seen for the best part of two years must be respected given is still a young horse and has got quality form in the book. Should be around even money in my book if we know is fit so happy to take the chance trainer has got enough work into him and sees this as the right opportunity to get this potentially smart sort back on track. This looks winnable and though a paddock watch would be preferred price looks value at the moment.
