Cameron Young

25 EW

@101.00

Open

Cameron Young has found his best form after a lean couple of seasons. A T-7 at the Truist Championship in May and a strong contender at last week's RBC Canadian Open when tying 4th, although he could have done much better if not for a poor decision on the final hole at the Osprey Valley course. Young is yet to win on the PGA Tour, but has finished runner-up on seven occasions. In his current form, and at his current odds, I'll take the American to finish top eight in Pennsylvania this week!

2022 U S Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick has had a bit of a lean period, but recent form suggests a strong showing at the Open could be on the cards for the Englishman. A T-8 finish at the PGA Championship was easily his best finish in recent tournaments. I reckon the U S Open will get his Major juices flowing and get him a high finish this week. Fitzy top 8!

Scottie Scheffler

Open

Having won the PGA Championship with relative ease in May, I have to think Scottie Scheffler is the man to do it again at the US Open. Winning three of his last four tournaments, without seemingly playing spectacular golf, the world number 1 is at a point in his career where his confidence is at his highest, and his fellow pros are somehow affected by this. I feel sure he'll win the Open!

Sepp Straka

I'm expecting a strong showing from Scottie Scheffler at the U.S. Open. But I believe one player who can push the world number 1 is Sepp Straka, who is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, with two of those wins coming this season. A much-improved golfer, Straka has also finished strong in several other tournaments. Straka E/W!

Sepp Straka is the type of golfer who can go on a run of birdies and is suddenly in contention out of nowhere. The Austrian is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, including twice in 2025, adding the Truist Championship and American Express to the Honda and John Deere Classics in 22/23. I won't be surprised to see Straka being a strong contender at the U.S. Open. Straka top European!

I'm expecting better golf from Ludvig Aberg in Canada this week. The Swede hasn't been consistently in contention this season despite winning the Genesis in February, but a final round 66 at the tough Muirfield course at the Memorial last week should hopefully inspire him to strongly contend at the Canadian Open this week.

With five wins on the PGA Tour, Sam Burns is a likely candidate for honours this week. He played well in this tournament last year with a top 10 finish. Jayden Schaper's name has been seen at the business end of tournaments this season. Finishing T-4 at the Soudal Open was Thriston Lawrence's first pay-cheque in a while as his form over the last couple of months had been dreadful.
