I'll take an each-way chance on Ontheropes, outsider and one of two runners for Thomas Mullins here. Interesting. Showed some form in hunter chases for a while before losing his way in recent times. Formerly with Willie Mullins. Not too useful for that yard either, but has never really been much tried over hurdles. One from one in this sphere of racing, actually, winning a maiden hurdle by ten lengths back in 2019. You never know.

Very interesting three-runner contest. It looks likely to be between the front two in the market, and at even money Road Exile makes an attractive bet. Tidy winner in October at Chepstow and put in a fair effort last time, making up late ground at Cheltenham. 3m 1f, the longest trip he's faced so far, should suit. Dan Skelton (SR 26%) trained, formerly with Paul Nolan in Ireland. This is his third race back since wind surgery, but he's had a longer break since last time, which may also be beneficial. Could still progress from a current mark of OR123, allotted 10 stone 7 lbs here. Six-year-old who has shown some ability this season.

Open race. Wreckless Eric might well have needed the run when well beaten behind stablemate Wilful in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Ascot three weeks ago. It was a good race ??" the classy Alexei finished third. Ran two seconds last year in good company, behind the useful Mirabad at Cheltenham and only beaten half a length by Go Dante in the Imperial Cup, both of those efforts off a mark only slightly lower than he runs off here. Nice sort being carefully placed by Jonjo O'Neill. Three wins from ten starts, all over hurdles.
