Autocrat has won 5 times in 25 all-weather starts and so looks value at double-figure odds to score. Handicap mark has dropped from 72 to 66 after three rather poor efforts at Dundalk this autumn. Slowly away last time. Wins have come at a bit shorter, but was keeping on when last ran over 1m4f. Dick Donohoe (SR 33%) doesn't have many runners but had a winner over hurdles with the penultimate runner. Patrick McGettigan (SR 38%) claims 7 lbs. Tidy!

Again a good few with fair chances. Serengeti Sunrise is drawn in stall 1. Carries 8 stone 10 pounds off OR 40. Back in April 2025 this 4yo (who is 1 win from 10 on AW) led and was only beaten a short head over 7 furlongs at Gowran Park, so is capable of running well. Trainer career stats are a worry, but second race back at Dundalk with Wesley Joyce claiming 3 lbs, I'm sort of tempted.

Fairly deep race for an initial outing for the new stable, but a good opportunity for connections to get a quick return from their purchase.

Well supported in the market when leaving his effort a bit late behind the impressive jumping display of Eldorado Allen over course and distance here last time. It was a promising performance (beaten five lengths in third place), and this Evan Williams-trained ten-year-old may have a shout from very low in the handicap once again. At 14-1, a chance is taken on Brentford Hope. He hasn't been running well (over fences the last twice), but last year's Grade 2 Elite Hurdle success and second to Constitution Hill here in January evidence the class of Brentford Hope at his best. Five wins from 17 hurdle starts and the seven-pound claim of Megan Fox is interesting at least (this jockey has had little racecourse success). Trainer Harry Derham is going okay. Officially the race is only a Class 3, kind of strangely (it's much hotter than that).

Some interesting prospects here. Walking In Mayo gets the vote, markedly upped in trip on handicap debut for Paddy Rothwell. Jockey Darragh O'Keeffe (profitable to follow on all runners this season) is booked. Form-wise, this 5yo mare by Walk In The Park won a maiden point by fifteen lengths ('kept on well', 3m, soft) in March 2025 and has since been either 'always behind', 'towards rear', or 'in rear' in four maiden races. While this might suggest to the uninitiated a pretty flaky racehorse, I will go with the Racing Post wisdom, which says 'can surely do better.' Market interest.

Jigoro

I agree with the betting market that this looks between Charlus (Triumph Hurdle attempt last year for Willie Mullins) and 133-rated Jigoro, who reverts to hurdles from chasing in first-time cheekpieces for Gordon Elliott (SR 28%) and Jack Kennedy (SR 44%). I guess the Willie Mullins-trained horse has been showing ability at home. Form-wise, two miles on heavy ground will suit Jigoro well. He has won just one of 10 hurdle starts, but there have been many decent efforts at a higher level than this in his hurdles form.

Newbrook Diamond

Newbrook Diamond ran a good race last time when second to a decent sort and sets a strong standard for the two Willie Mullins-trained runners and other trained runners to match. Beaten by a useful previous bumper second, strongly supported in the market for Henry de Bromhead last time. Kept that horse up to work and the two went fifteen lengths clear of the third. Point winner by Balko. Jack Kennedy (SR 44%) rides for Gordon Elliott (SR 28%).

Drafted for Charlie Byrnes is respected, but top-weight Brains gets the vote. Career tally of 14 wins from 83 runs includes 11 AW successes. Last won at Leopardstown in March off this mark of 60. Unsuccessful in last winter's campaign at Dundalk, but he was running off ratings between 4 and 14 pounds higher then. Brains seemed to find a mile too far (led) when last here 42 days ago. Early money for the newcomer Chirac, but the selection is Mahi Mahi. Lope Y Fernandez colt out of the high-class handicapper-sprinter Love Island. Badger's Cove (James Macaulay-owned, Denis Hogan-trained) merits interest dropped markedly in trip (has shown a lot of speed), but my preference is for the better-priced and substantially better-drawn (in stall 2) Plushy. This Ardad filly led for five of six furlongs on handicap debut last time and wasn't beaten far in a decent C&D contest (a subsequent maiden winner finished behind her there). Dropped 1 pound, and Jack Kearney (SR 20%) helps by claiming a 3-pound allowance. Trainer Gavin Cromwell's win stats are slowly picking up.

Pretty open handicap race over 10.5 furlongs. 7yo grey Aingeal Dorcha is trained by Andrew Slattery and ran very well from the front behind Marions Gal and Colugo over C&D last time. The winner has been raised ten pounds by the handicapper. Aingeal Dorcha has won 2 of 22 starts on turf (off OR61 and 69 either side of today's trip). The interesting thing is last month's 4th of 14 was his very first run on the all-weather. Adam Browne-Souza claims 7 lbs again, and the gelding is very well handicapped on his best old form off today's mark of 51. Positive signs of a revival last time.

Loyal Touch

Daily Racing

Loyal Touch is the top-rated on official figures in this claimer by some eighteen pounds. Thus the Racing Post forecast favourite. Of the four runners for Denis Hogan (including the selection), Porsche Lad is being backed. Picked up for 4,200 guineas (a steal), he clearly has ability, and was perhaps unlucky to be beaten on two starts before perhaps being lucky to win last time for Charlie Byrnes. Less likely to stay this 1m 4f than Loyal Touch, who joins from Charlie Johnston. Alan Casey claims 7 pounds. No run since April but two wins from six AW starts. This is all a bit mysterious ??" the strong market support plus the booking of Colin Keane for Porsche Lad. Loyal Touch could, however, be a potential shoo-in for a trainer who looks keen to win the race.

Boombawn

Daily Racing

This Grade 2 Peterborough Chase is an intriguing contest, not least because Hitman runs for Paul Nicholls, having returned to near his very best form with a success under similar conditions at Grade 2 level at Aintree last time. Freddie Gingell retains the ride. Hitman is weak in the market, though (14.0 available on Betfair as I type!). Harry Cobden (SR 34%) meanwhile rides Saint Sam for Willie Mullins (SR 22%). He's a talented horse (six wins from 15 over fences) but probably not in the stable's top rank. Djelo is good but short-priced, and his recent Grade 2 win can be downgraded by the second, Pic D'Orhy (Paul Nicholls again), running poorly next time out. It may be left to Dan Skelton's Boombawn, a former Grade 2-winning chaser, to pick up the pieces. A little rusty but not beaten far behind Hitman last time, he could progress from that.

It's been his first seasonal start on each occasion. Paul Townend (SR 36%) rides for champion trainer Willie Mullins (SR 22%). Ladbrokes quote the horse at 11-2 in this five-runner race (there are literally only four horses here that can potentially beat the selection). (I've actually just had £1 on the officially top-rated horse in the race, last year's King George winner Banbridge, at 24.0 with Betfair. I couldn't resist.) But there we are. A fascinating hobby theorising about horse racing. Ok, so, also Energumene is now eleven years old and recent results do suggest he's no longer in his prime. Jumping was ever a little bit suspect. Henry De Bromhead's stable form is a bit of a worry, but Slade Steel went close to winning yesterday. He receives six pounds from the likely favourite. Maiden hurdle winner, eventually over 3m1f in August. Handicap hurdle winner (3m, Roscommon) in late September, the first two going 18 lengths clear of the third. Respectable effort in a classy handicap hurdle behind Ma Shantou at Cheltenham in October. Good mares chase in prospect. Kala Conti and Kargese were both initially very promising over hurdles. Kargese, for Willie Mullins, maintained her form, winning the competitive County Hurdle at Cheltenham. Kala Conti lost her way last season but scored a nine-length win over fences first time of asking, the heavily odds-on Jade De Grugy flopping for Willie Mullins in that race. The market is hugely keen on Kargese today, but Kala Conti is the value-based selection (well, that's my idea anyway) at odds of 9-2. There are a few to consider here, but trainer Enda Bolger (17% SR this season) is highly respected if winning is the intention today. Talented jockey Mark Walsh rides.

Hitched

Hitched has a good deal of ability and is consistent at this level, but he's a come-from-behind sort and doesn't always get the breaks. That happened last time behind Tribal Wisdom, who he meets again over this course and distance. He's certainly in with a shout. 4-1 seems a little bit short for a betting price, but he's a definite contender, one pound above his last winning mark.

Seven-year-old has won three of the last four starts, including over a marathon trip of 3m4f in the Sussex National at Plumpton. Handicapper being very kind (up 8 lbs for four wins). Winner over these fences at 2m4f last time. Invincible Nao is not a showy type and sometimes loses enthusiasm in his races, but tends to show up at the end of races in a winning position. Could easily do the same in this contest from a weight of 10-12. Training partnership Gary & Josh Moore are so successful at Sandown. Three pretty easy winners from just four runners at the course yesterday.

With Nolimit

Daily Racing

Josh Williamson claims 5 lb on With Nolimit, one of two Gordon Elliott (SR 25%) trained former point winners running in Gigginstown colours. The Racing Post notes this horse was favourably mentioned by the trainer in a recent stable tour. Ten-length winner in point-to-point back in March was very promising. Stable Yard going really well with recent winners at the course and lots of recent bumper winners.

From very low in the handicap (OR 119, 10-02), Sunray Shadow catches the eye for trainer Dan Skelton. Won a Class 3 maiden hurdle over course and distance in October 2024. Unsupported in the market on his first run for eleven months at Newbury last time (probably an inadequate trip of two miles). Unexposed and interesting in this company. Tristan Durrell (SR 22%) claims 3 lb.

Il Etait Temps

Daily Racing

Best-backed horse in a good-looking renewal of the Tingle Creek Chase. Top-rated officially on a mark of OR169. Willie Mullins-trained 7yo and Paul Townend (SR 35%) comes over presumably chiefly for this ride. Six wins from eight starts over fences, including the impressive defeat of Jonbon over course and distance in April. Warmed up for this with a facile, eighteen-length win in a Grade 2 at Clonmel last month. Strong claims of success.

Kopeck De Mee

Daily Racing

Willie Mullins-trained Kopeck De Mee is a very promising type making his first start over fences today. Well-backed favourite for the Martin Pipe Hurdle at Cheltenham on his first outing since being imported from France for this yard. Came good on potential with a neck second in a Grade 3 hurdle at Aintree. Mark Walsh rides. Rated 144 over hurdles. Soft going will suit. Interesting newcomer to chasing. Likely type.

Not easy. Val Dancer was poor on reappearance and might have the Welsh National (winner last year) as the target, but is well handicapped here. Five wins from ten starts over fences, four of those in excess of three miles. Stays well. Suited by soft going. Trainer Mel Rowley had a recent winner. Jockey Charlie Hammond (SR 23%) is going well. Strangely poor effort last time following form figures of 11133112. Allotted 10st 6lb, Val Dancer must have a shout.

Afadil has become very well handicapped again. Harry Cobden (SR 34%) carries just 10-03 in this race, which gives Afadil a strong chance. Talented, quirky at times in the past, the hurdler has won 4 of 24 hurdle starts. Close third behind Go Dante in the Imperial Cup over course and distance in March (five pounds better off today). Made a seasonal reappearance in a decent Class 2 contest at Ascot (unsupported that day). This is Afadil's second start back from wind surgery. Paul Nicholls' trained six-year-old makes much appeal from this low in the handicap.

Tullyhill

Daily Racing

Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old Tullyhill retains potential. He goes up in trip today. Second to decent sorts over fences. Didn't jump well on reappearance at Wexford and is better than that. Soft, heavy ground is probably an aid to his chances. He might be much sharper on this second seasonal outing. Danny Mullins rides.

Fourteen-runner contest and a good few of those out of the handicap proper look to have chances. Gringo Daubrelle is one of four runners for Gordon Elliott (SR 25%). Showed much promise over hurdles in younger years before a lengthy absence. Showed little over fences. Encouraging fifth over hurdles last time and could build on that going up in trip (much staying potential on the dam side). Michael Kenneally has been riding winners and claims a seven-pound allowance. Outside chance.

Richmond Lake's best effort yet came when a fourteen-length winner of the last running of this race in 2023. Solid second to the classy Imperial Saint over course and distance since. Travelled strongly on first start back since wind surgery last time, before fading late in a Class 2 hurdle at Bangor. Donald McCain's stable has been in good form. Seven pounds below the mark from which he won this race in 2023. Lots to like about Richmond Lake's chances today.

A chance is taken on Hititi, who is a soft-ground horse. Five wins from 19 starts over hurdles and went down by only a neck in the 2023 renewal of this race off a current mark of 130. Actually dropped four pounds since the reappearance effort, which may have been needed.

Gordon Elliott plays a strong hand with three runners entered in this Grade 2 novices' hurdle. The most exciting of these has to be Port Authority, who was really settled in running in a maiden hurdle before outstaying Galway bumper winner Murat (in front of Doctor Steinberg) and going clear, looking like 2m4f would suit well.
