Palazzo Persico showed improvement on his second run for the new yard of Denis Hogan last time. The drop back in trip makes sense, as does the jockey booking of Reese Holohan with a 7 lb allowance to claim. The five-year-old by Profitable won races over this sort of trip (three all-weather wins) for his former yard of Ed Dunlop. His handicap mark is falling now, and it might be early days with that in mind. The trainer does well at this sort of trip. Palazzo Persico is interesting this evening.

The introduction of a visor might restimulate Jered Maddox, whose form has been very poor in recent times despite occasional market interest. His last win came in March 2025 ??" many races ago ??" off a mark of 82. Antique Blue is a big price at 40-1 in this Class 4 maiden. Pretty well bred especially for seven furlongs with Space Blues and Holy Roman Emperor the sire and damsire respectably. Trainer is well acquainted with Newcastle so interesting this three year old is tried here now. Improvement quite possible.

Navy Waves is really quite useful in the context of this race. Twice a winner over hurdles (at 2 miles and 2m 6f). Has gone close on many occasions, including over 3 miles.
