Could go well.

First start back with Norman Lee. Made In The Woods ran prominently throughout at Clonmel in a decent handicap chase and only weakened late on in what was arguably a decent race for the grade. It looked less a prep than an attempt to win from the front. That was over fences, but he switches to hurdles now (for which he's six pounds lower) and first-time cheekpieces are added. First reserve. His strike rate is poor, but it was a good effort last time and he has a staying pedigree.

Having led one furlong out last time, this drop to seven furlongs should suit the selection, who looks the one to go with.

A lot of these come with risks attached. It's not a great race, and it could be comfortably within the remit of Epic West. Admittedly, the 7yo has run direly on two of three starts over fences this season. However, the other effort was a very close second in decent company, at a higher grade than here (Class 3). Jamie Snowden trained. Given a break, he showed a lot of promise over hurdles and is expected to come on for the step up to three miles. By Mount Nelson, he looks potentially to have the class to win this race quite snugly. Gavin Sheehan rides.

A chance is taken on Kings Champion here, who looked impressive when running out a twelve-length winner at Ayr in January. Front-running tactics may have done for him on heavy ground at Taunton, although he was beaten by a useful sort and they were well clear of the remainder. He will have needed a good break since then. The Nicky Henderson-trained favourite sets the standard, but Kings Champion might offer a little more value at odds of 9-2. Sean Bowen rides for Olly Murphy.

Many of these have claims in a tricky race to call, but I'm a bit tempted by Izakaya, who makes the lengthy journey from Lewes, East Sussex, to Pontefract, Yorkshire for this 2m 5f marathon handicap. Consecutive wins over 2 miles at 40-1 at Bath and 8-1 at Newbury last autumn for the 7yo mare (exotic pedigree by German sire Adlerflug). Not beaten too far at Lingfield in late March, perhaps a prep for this. Two wins from five starts on the turf (Flat).

This doesn't look very strong for a hunters' chase and will likely go to one of the first two in the market. Willie Mullins-trained I Walked The Line won a 3m maiden point by five lengths last year and went on from there to win a maiden hunters' chase at Clonmel in January (2m4f, heavy) by 3 lengths despite the odd jumping error. Young (five years old) and looks progressive. There is probably more to come.

Was very keen and failed to settle at Clonmel recently, but did run by far his best race yet. A win didn't look far away on the basis of that effort. The winner looked a very useful prospect that day, and Paul Townend wasn't unduly hard on this 6yo Wings of Eagles gelding when the race had gone. Should make good and get off the mark today.

Stable in pretty decent form still, and they continue to try the 9yo (by Flemensfirth) at long distances. Ayr might suit.

Winner over seven furlongs here in 2023 and second of 12, beaten a head by My Cloud in May 2025 (the winner won the Royal Hunt Cup) next time out. In front of EBT's Guard on both occasions. Looks pretty well handicapped carrying 8 stone 8 pounds (OR 87), just four pounds above the decent second place I mentioned. Not over-raced (two wins, two seconds from 12 starts). Interesting.

Roger Varian (SR 29%) stable is in good form, and lowly weighted Peel Park could be the answer to what is a fairly open-looking and highly competitive handicap for 3yos. Beat some useful two-year-olds over six furlongs in a maiden at Yarmouth in July. Disappointing at York on step up to seven furlongs but kept on at Doncaster (back to six) on final start at two. He's by Mehmas out of a Frankel mare, likely bred to add stamina to the Frankel line. Low in the handicap, and improvement is not ruled out. Highly respected trainer had the Craven second yesterday.

Quinault has a 100% win record over six furlongs at Newmarket (Rowley and July) and is officially the top rated here on OR112. Marco Ghiani rides for Stuart Williams. The pair were successful with a 50-1 winner in yesterday's Nell Gwyn. Quinault made all to win the £168K Dukhan Sprint Cup over six furlongs at Doha last time, beating some good sorts there. Springtime isn't usually the best time to catch this one, but he does appeal at odds of 8-1. This Oasis Dream gelding is still just six years old.

An open handicap contest. Brains' last win was achieved over 1 mile here on good ground and OR60 in March last year, but that was the last time Shane Foley rode him. Always dangerous and, back from a short break since a lame all-weather effort last time, the ten-year-old (who won races off marks of 79, 82 and 82 in younger years) is hard to rule out.

While she will need to be a little more alert and ready than on her first two outings over course and distance here, Act of Kindness can be played at odds of 4-1 for the win. Cost 3,700,000 guineas as a yearling. Ran green on debut and was two lengths behind Mubasimah there. Stepped up on that to win sweetly on her second start. Nice pedigree by Siyouni out of a Shamardal mare. Can be expected to progress further, and the current form of Charlie Appleby's (SR 50%) stable demands respect.

Dark Thirty is tempting at quite a big price on its second start for the stable of John & Sean Quinn (SR 21%). Showed speed at Haydock last time and won this race two years ago from the front off a mark four pounds higher than today. It's a good sign that the stable are targeting this race. Largely held his form throughout last season, winning two races. Decent sort, well handicapped for a stable in form.

Jamada looks likely to land the odds for Olly Murphy (SR 23%) and jockey Sean Bowen in this four-runner maiden hurdle. Bumper winner at Naas last year. Went close on the first of four maiden hurdle starts and was second of 18 at Lingfield on the penultimate start. Heavy ground was probably the undoing of this 6yo last time, and this looks the easiest opportunity he's faced yet to score for this yard.

Kool Raoul has been disappointing since being sent handicapping. He previously placed in two maiden hurdles over course and distance. He ran fairly poorly again when upped to Class 2 company in a recent outing, which might put him on song for today's race. He has come in for market support. Top weight of 12 stone is allotted, but Gregor Walkingshaw claims a ten-pound allowance and cheekpieces are applied. It will be interesting to see whether the six-year-old can apply himself better dropped into Class 5 company for the first time.

Nicky Richards has a staggering 100% strike rate, with his last eight runners all scoring. Three of them were in chase events. Young Getaway was highly promising in novice and maiden hurdles but has been absent for a year. He returns to make a debut over fences, carrying top weight in a handicap chase, so wouldn't usually be fancied at 4-1. But the current form of the yard is so strong he is the selection to score.
