Few miles on the clock for the 7yo. He was a winner during Nov, the front two pulling clear of the rest, and he’s now back on that winning mark. His three runs since have been on unsuitable slow ground. He ran some nice races this time last year on quicker ground, and you could now expect some improvement in this weak-looking handicap.

Four runs this winter for the 6yo. Three solid flat runs and a win nine days ago over hurdles. The front two in that nine-runner handicap had pulled a huge 22L clear of the rest. He's due to be racing off a 7lb higher mark in the future. Same jockey on board for this handicap, and he can now claim his 3lb allowance, effectively making the selection 10lb well in at the weights.

Unexposed, 5-year-old. He won a 20-runner maiden hurdle by 7 lengths in December. He produced big runs in his next two starts in Grade 2 and Grade 3 novice hurdle races. The form looks strong: beaten by just 3 lengths and then by 3/4 length. He has a handy-looking opening handicap mark, a good jockey booking for this conditional riders’ handicap, and no problem with soft ground. He ticks all the right boxes.

The British runners will fancy their chances in the Gold Cup, but the Irish Mullins runner is a nice price. In four of his past five races he has posted 172+ RPR ratings ??" top table. No problem with the better ground, and his only previous run at this track resulted in an 8L Grade 1 Arkle win.

The 6yo has progressed nicely, form 22131. Top yard/jockey. He was a close 2nd of 15 during Nov behind a runner who went very close in a Grade 1 on Wednesday. A big positive is that his best RPR rating came on good ground during Jan. His opening handicap mark of 133 for this race could prove to be lenient.

The 4yo filly, trained by Gordon Elliott, has 3 wins from 3 over hurdles. A 6L Listed winner during November on her second start. She beat ‘Saratoga’ five weeks ago while conceding 7 lb, and that one was a nice winner on the Tuesday at the festival while racing off a decent handicap mark. Worth her place in this Grade 1 and could be overpriced.
