Lightly raced this year. Excuses for the 7-year-old three weeks ago on the AW, when totally missing the break. Better judged on his previous run, beaten just 2L on slow turf ground in a much stronger handicap than this race today. Staying on strong from off the pace, a 4lb lower mark today. He won this race last year, and he won off a 5lb higher mark last October.

Plenty miles on the clock for the 7yo, not easy to win with but is on a very handy mark now. Beaten around 2L last week in a 16 runner quality class 2 handicap, staying on well but came from a little too far back. A 2lb lower mark for this class 3 contest today. He went close twice, June/July while racing off an 8lb higher mark. No problem with the slower ground and he has a good jockey booking.

Five runs from the 3-year-old this year, not great but a better effort in a useful £52K handicap last time out. Only 5th in the end, but he was still mixing it at the front end inside the final furlong. It was a fast-run affair on good/firm ground, and the 1st and 2nd led all the way without stopping. Better off the weights now, plus a good apprentice can claim 5lb in this handicap. Effectively 15lb lower than his return mark during the spring.
