The 4-year-old has 1 win from 7 in turf flat races. He was a 3-length handicap winner just over a year ago, but things didn’t go to plan after. Three runs this year, over the jumps, and he was a novice hurdle winner three weeks ago. He is in good shape and has probably strengthened up since his last flat run. He was rated higher last summer and might prove to be better than his new low 71 flat rating. A good apprentice takes another useful 3 lbs off his back.

Lightly raced 4yo, just 11 starts. Back on turf last week after coming off a short break, tired late on, over 7f on quick ground, but stats do suggest he’s better over 6f on easy ground. Two nice runs in defeat this time last year - high ratings. He’s on a handy mark if getting back to that level. Positive jockey booking, 11 winners and a 19% strike rate for this trainer.

Lightly raced 4yo filly, 1 win from 5. She went very close on her handicap debut last Oct - decent form, similar mark for this handicap. She was not disgraced in a good Listed contest on her next start. She probably needed her return run during April, which was her AW debut. She’s had a nice seven week break to get her act together and she’s on a handy looking mark if getting back to her best.

Not too many miles on the clock for the 5-year-old. Six runs on the AW this winter/spring, not showing great form, and it's a puzzle why he had so many runs. A 3-month break and a return to grass might bring about some improvement. He was decent on turf as a 3-year-old, earning a nice 84 rating. He’s now running off a tempting 58 rating.

The 6-year-old has raced at class 2 level in his last six races, dropping into a class 3 today. Decent run last time out, didn’t land a blow but held every chance inside the final furlong. Dropped 2 lb in the weights and he can build on that effort. Rated 9 lb higher last August, a good draw today and he is a previous C/D winner.

Two runs for the 4yo this year, running well for a long way over 6f last week in a strong class 2 handicap. Fitness should be good now and he seems a better runner over this 5f trip. He finished last year with two narrow defeats in good quality/big field class 2 handicap races, - high RPR ratings posted. The going will suit him and he looks weighted to run a big race in this class 3 handicap.

The 6yo is quite consistent, win or placed in 18 races. Two runs this year, something amiss last time out and will be happier on this slower ground. He was a close 5th of 14 during April in a good £52K handicap, beaten by three runners rated 101, 103 and 107. He has a lower mark now and is facing rivals rated 71-88. He is a previous 13f C/D winner. I don’t think you can rule him out and he looks overpriced.

Still room for more improvement from the 4-year-old, 2 wins from 9 on turf. Three runs this year after joining a new yard. He was a close 3rd of 10 two weeks ago in a decent handicap, beaten under a length - stuck out wide for the first half of the race and very wide on the final turn, which is a big negative at the Chester track, and his run was better than the actual stats. The ‘Queen Mothers Cup’’ handicap for female jockeys - the winning rider wins her weight in champagne, and is a prestigious race for the lady riders. This lightly raced 6yo should be better for his return run during April. He ran at this track last August in the 20 runner £300k Ebor handicap, front rank, cruised clear 2f out then ran out of gas. This shorter trip is more suitable, just a £13K contest, he rated 4lb higher last Aug, capable jockey in the saddle, and he might be a class above these rivals.
