Curious Rover looks a strong value bet at double-figure odds. He ran a big race last time at Thirsk, finishing fourth of 17 in a stronger Class 4 handicap, beaten less than three lengths. He now drops into Class 5 company off a reduced mark of 74. That is very interesting because he won off 82 last season, so he is now well treated if he runs anywhere near that level. The strongest signal is the placement. Katie Scott sends just one runner, roughly 245 miles from the Scottish borders to Wolverhampton, and Rowan Scott takes the ride. That's a strong signal of intent to me. He has also run well on the all-weather before, finishing second at Newcastle off a much higher mark of 85, so the surface should not be a major concern.
