A modest Class 5, 6-runner handicap which I would not normally give much time to. However, this is a quirky track and it pays to have experience here. Romanovich has 3 wins and a place from 8 runs here, so he clearly loves the track. His win last time was a Class 6, so he is up in class today. However, his 3 runs in Class 5 were in 2-year-old novices 3 years ago, and with his record of generally just doing enough when scoring, he is worth another try at this level, albeit his Class 5 handicap debut. William Carson retains the mount, and he did well to get to the stand rail from stall 4 of 12 last time, so with only 6 runners, he has every chance of doing so again. He has been weak in the market this morning, but if he can grab the stand side from stall 4 again, he looks overpriced now at around 4/1 and rates a sporting Nap of the day.

Durham Castle was nicely progressive last season and is still lightly raced as a 4yo with only 5 runs behind him. He was supported on re-appearance in a competitive 16 runner Class 3 handicap at Haydock 2 weeks ago and was far from disgraced and ran better than the bare form appears. He was stuck out wide on the wing but did come to hold every chance over 1f out before weakening through the final furlong. The first 3 home were all drawn in double figures and he was drawn 2 so his RPR can be marked up. With only 6 runners tonight, he is unlikely to have the same issue and with improvement likely for that run, At around 6/4, he looks a sound bet in this field.
