The Tsar Wars slot is played on a 6x6 grid with Cluster Pays. Cluster wins are form by landing 5 or more matching symbols that are connected horizontally and/or vertically (i.e. next to each other). With a sci-fi/Russian theme, the Tsar Wars slot is set in a galaxy far, far East where evil Tsar Lord Nikolai II rules the galaxy with fear and ruthlessness. Set aboard the Century Eagle spaceship, you’ll notice slices of pizza, toilet rolls, rubber ducks and other objects flying around in space. The rather upbeat soundtrack is satirical and has hints of hip-hop about it.

On the 6x6 grid, the low-value symbols are represented by icons depicting fists, Arakh swords, hammers and crows. The 3 high-value symbols are represented by Han Stalin, Princess Leianin and Marx Skytalker. The Marx Skytalker symbol is the best paying awarding 50 times your total bet for 15 or more in a cluster win.

Tsar Wars also comes with various special symbols. You have a Trapped Wild that substitutes for all paying symbols, an xBomb Wild that also substitutes and explodes and a Tsar Side Bonus symbol: more on their functions below.

Avalanche & Multiplier

When you land a winning cluster, the Avalanche feature is triggered. Winning symbols are destroyed which allows new ones to drop in. The process continues as long as there is a winning cluster on the grid. With every avalanche, the Multiplier feature kicks in with the multiplier increasing by 1.

Big Symbols

You’ll notice that there are 3 types of symbol sizes. Known as the Big Symbols feature, there are 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3 symbols. If there is no room for a Big Symbol to drop, the gap underneath it will be filled with the same symbol as the Big Symbol (to increase your chances of landing a winning cluster).

Trapped Wild

Look out for the Trapped Wild symbol (highlight effect animation on a symbol). When a symbol with a Trapped Wild highlight is part of a winning cluster or is removed by an xBomb Wild explosion, the Trapped Wild transforms into a Wild symbol, which remains in place for the next avalanche. The Trapped Wild highlight effect can apply to all symbols, including Big Symbols.

Random Features

In the base game, there are 3 features that are triggered randomly:

• Wild Rush (Princess Leianin): it randomly transforms 2 to 5 paying symbols into Wilds.
• Force Shift (Marx Skytalker): it randomly transforms 1 to 3 paying symbols into another symbol.
• xBomb Wild (Han Stalin): it randomly transforms 1 to 3 paying symbols into xBomb Wilds. Substituting for all symbols except the Tsar Side Bonus, xBomb Wilds explode and remove adjacent symbols which increases the win multiplier by 1 for the next avalanche. If a Big Symbol is adjacent to the xBomb Wild, it will be removed.

Destruction Spin

The Destruction Spin feature is triggered when the Destruction Meter is filled with 25 winning symbols. When the meter is full and no extra wins are formed, you’ll get 1 Desturction Spin where the Wild Rush, Force Shift and xBomb Wild features are guaranteed to trigger at least once. Finally, the Destruction Meter resets after each spin/avalanche sequence.

Revolution Spins

This is triggered when you fill the Destruction Meter with 25 winning symbols during a Destruction Spin. You then pick from:

• 5 free spins with the Wild Rush feature
• 6 free spins with the Force Shift feature
• 7 free spins with the xBomb Wild feature

That feature will come into play at least once per free spin with the other features triggering randomly. Beginning with a 15x win multiplier, filled the Destruction Meter with 30 win symbols will reward you with 2 extra free spins and double the win multiplier.

Tsar Side Spins

The Tsar Side Spins feature is triggered when a Tsar Side Bonus symbol lands during a Destruction Spin and the Destruction Meter is filled with 25 winning symbols.

With 6 free spins awarded, the Wild Rush, Force Shift and xBomb Wild features will activate at least once on every free spin.

Starting with a 15x win multiplier, filling the Destruction Meter with 30 win symbols will see you win 2 additional free spins and the win multiplier doubled.

Nolimit Booster

Combining Star Wars and historical Russian figures is a strange but welcome mix in the Tsar Wars slot. From a creative point of view, Nolimit City are clearly not short of ideas that break the norm and push boundaries. So hat off on that front.

A Cluster Pays game, there are avalanches with an increasing multiplier as well as Big Symbols: all pretty standard truth be told. With Trapped Wilds, the 3 randomly triggered base game features gives you wilds, symbol transformations and xBomb Wilds. If all 3 combine, they can lead to decent wins.

Then you have the Destruction Spin which is triggered when you fill the Destruction Meter with 25 winning symbols. It reminds me a little of Play ‘n GO’s Reactoonz. Anyway, you get 1 free spin with all random base game features combining.

Fill the Destruction Meter during the Destruction Spin to play the Revolution Spins feature. Here, you have the choice of the 3 random base game extras which are guaranteed to land at least once during each free spin.
