The Count Slot (Hacksaw Gaming)

The Count slot is played with 5 reels, 5 rows and 19 paylines. To form a winning combination, you need 3 or more matching symbols appearing from left to right: they need to begin from reel 1 and across any of the paylines. Just the highest win per payline will be awarded.

With a horror theme, The Count slot is inspired by Count on Count, a muppet character from the Sesame Street TV show which first appeared back in 1972! Set in the vampire’s castle, the first thing you’ll notice is the black and white tones: it reminds me of Pray for Three, SixSixSix and Reign of Rome in terms of colour scheme.

With a playful, cartoon style, this tongue-in-cheek game sees a vampire (The Count) and a skeleton with a top hat bobbing up and down to the side of the grid. On the reels, you’ll see A, K, Q, J and 10 royals as well as hammer and stakes, headstones, coffins, skulls and spiders. The skull and spider symbols pay the most with both awarding 5 x your total bet for 5 across any payline.

The Count Mobile

The Count, as with all Hacksaw games, was produced with HTML5 technology. Adapting to mobile, tablet and desktop devices, you will play in Portrait Mode if playing on a smartphone device (with both iOS and Android compatible).

The Count slot is all about Blood and Wild Bat symbols, which lead to expanded Bloody Wilds, multipliers and Epic Wild Bats. There are 3 free spins features on offer where there is a higher chance of landing the important base game symbols.

Expanded Bloody Wilds

Look out for the Blood symbol landing, as it will expand into a Blood Wild: this occurs if the expanded symbol is part of at least 1 winning combination (once expanded of course).

Bloody Wilds expand downwards, from the top of the grid to the landed Blood symbol. Blood symbols that land on the top row will still count as expanded Bloody Wilds if part of a win. Expanded Bloody Wilds act as wild symbols on every position it covers. Just 1 Blood symbol can land on a reel at any time.

When a Blood Wild expanded, it can be just a wild or can reveal a multiplier from 2x to 500x. If a winning combination involves more than 1 expanded Blood Wild with a multiplier, the multiplier values are combined and then applied to the win.

Wild Bat Symbols

There are also Wild Bat symbols: when they land, it will come with an adding multiplier value between 2x and 500x. When a Wild Bat symbol is part of a winning combination, the win is combine with the Wild Bat’s multiplier value.

If multiple Wild Bat symbols are part of a win, their multiplier values are combined and then applied to the win. If a win includes an expanded Bloody Wild and a Wild Bat, the 2 multiplier values are also combined.

Now, there is an Epic Wild Bat symbol which comes with an adding multiplier value between 2x and 500x. When it lands, it actives and spreads its value to all expanded Bloody Wilds and Wild Bats. Just the 1 Epic Wild Bat can land on each spin.

Bat to the Bone Bonus

If you land 3 FS Scatter symbols during a base game spin, you’ll activate the Bat to the Bone Bonus feature. With 10 free spins, there is an increased chance of landing Wild Bat symbols, compared to the base game. 2 or 3 FS Scatters appearing will see you win 2 or 4 extra free spins, with no limits.

Rest in Pieces Bonus

Triggered by landing 4 FS Scatters during a base game spin, the Rest in Pieces Bonus feature awards 10 free spins. It works like the base game but there is a progressive Symbol Counter, with 5 sections linked to each of the 5 low-value symbols.

When a low-value symbol forms a winning combination, 1 section fills up on the corresponding Symbol Counter. Fill all 5 sections to replace that low-value symbol with Wild Bats for the remainder of the feature. Also, 2 or 3 FS Scatters will award 2 or 4 additional free spins.

Count on Blood Bonus

The Count on Blood Bonus feature is played when you land 5 FS Scatters in the base game. Like the Rest in Pieces Bonus feature, there is an increased chance of landing Epic Wild Bat symbols: with at least 5 Wild Bat symbols on every free spin. 2 or 3 FS Scatters will give you 2 or 4 extra free spins, respectively.

The Count slot is a tongue-in-cheek game. With the same colour tone as many Hacksaw Gaming titles, the graphics and animation are quite generic and don’t really stand out. It focuses on Blood Wild and Wild Bat symbols.

However, Blood symbols expand into a Blood Wild which come with multipliers up to 500x. These remind me of the Fist symbols in Hacksaw’s Fighter Pit. Wild Bat symbols also come with multipliers up to 500x. When both combine, multiplier values are added together. Look out for Epic Wild Bat symbols as they added their multiplier value (up to 500x) to all expanded Bloody Wilds and Wild Bats.

Then you have 3 free spins features which are more lucrative, potentially, than the base game. Hacksaw Gaming has added a progressive Symbol Counter in 2 of them allowing for low-value card symbols to be replaced by Wild Bats. The Count on Blood Bonus feature is the most rewarding as there is a higher chance of seeing Epic Wild Bat symbols.

All in all, The Count slot is a cheeky, fun game that focuses on wild multipliers and free spins. Hacksaw has managed to find another way of presenting wild multipliers in a package that will appeal to fans of horror-themed games.

With 12,500 x bet max wins, it doesn’t quite live up to titles such as Chaos Crew 3 or Donut Division but is a worth addition to Hacksaw Gaming’s impressive portfolio.
