Reactions

When a winning cluster lands, the Reactions feature will be activated. Winning symbols then split and react to be replaced by 4 smaller symbols. Giving you another opportunity to form a winning cluster, a win will see symbols of the same size above them collapse downwards with new symbols dropping in from above to fill the positions on the grid.

Reactions continue until no more new winning clusters appear. This feature is found in many slot games, most noticeably in Megaways slots (which were invented by Big Time Gaming).

Gold Wild Multiplier

Look out for the Gold Wild Multiplier symbol: it’s a multi-coloured star with a 1x multiplier attached. When 1 or more Gold Wild Multiplier symbols substitute in a win, the Gold Wild Multiplier feature activates. Up to 2 Gold Wild Multipliers can appear on the grid at any one time.

The 1x multiplier increases by 1 each time and continues to grow as long as Gold Wild Multipliers are part of winning clusters. The multiplier values reset at the beginning of each spin unless you trigger the Free Spins feature (more details below).

The Gold Wild Multiplier resets at the end of each spin unless the Free Spins feature is activated. Up to 2 Gold Wilds can appear on any spin/reaction.

Free Spins 

Star Clusters Megaclusters comes with the obligatory Free Spins feature. With no Scatter or Bonus symbols, it’s triggered when 5 or more Reactions occur in the base game. 2 free spins are awarded plus 1 extra free spin for each Reaction beyond the 5^th (i.e. 7 Reactions = 4 free spins).

If you trigger the feature with a Gold Wild Multiplier, it’s carried over from the triggering spin into the Free Spins feature. When the Gold Wild Multiplier reaches a multiple of 10, an extra 2 free spins will be awarded.

More importantly, the free spins begin on an 8x8 grid with 64 symbol positions. Reactions will lead to symbols splitting which can see the grid reach up to 16x16 in size with 256 reel positions (or Megaclusters).

The Star Clusters Megaclusters slot was the first game to use the Megaclusters mechanic. Beginning on a 4x4 grid with 16 symbol positions, Big Time Gaming has flipped the Cluster Pays concept on its head as Reactions lead to winning symbols replaced by 4 smaller ones. This leads to a bigger grid and more symbols which in turn can lead to bigger and more winning clusters.
