Necromancer’s Gate Slot (Relax Gaming)

The Necromancer’s Gate slot is played with 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed by landing 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols, from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel and across any of the 20 paylines. Just the highest win per payline will be awarded.

With a 10p minimum bet, the maximum bet is £5 a spin or up to £2 if you’re under 25 (in the UK). Non-UK players can play for up to £40 a spin. With a fantasy/magic theme, the Necromancer’s Gate slot sees you step amongst the shadows into a world of magic and mystery. Unfortunately it is not a spin-off of the Money Train slots series which features a Necromancer as it’s main character.

Eerie and suspenseful, you’ll see the Necromancer prominently standing next to the reels, with staff in hand. Set in a fluorescent green underworld, the soundtrack is enchanting and rhythmic. The reels are set within the Necromancer’s stone gate.

On the reels, low-value symbols include blue, green yellow and purple stones (with markings on them). The higher-value symbols include a lantern, skull ring, an eyed pyramid, a ram skull book and the Necromancer himself: the Necromancer is the best paying symbol, awarding 2, 10 or 30 x your total bet for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

Necromancer’s Gate also comes with a Wild symbol that substitutes for all regular, paying symbols above. The other symbol of note is the Scatter: this is key to triggering the Chaos Spins feature (more on this below).

Mystery Respin

Randomly at the start of any base game spin, the Necromancer can unleash the Mystery Respin feature: he will summon 1-16 cursed skulls onto the reels.

Appearing on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5, you’ll need a Ghoul Activator on reel 3 to unlock their secrets. If this happens, the skulls burst open, revealing matching symbols or the Necromancer’s Coin Toss.

With Scatter Pays used, the total number of matching symbols will determine your win. The Ghoul Activator symbol also comes with a multiplier up to 10x, which applies to your total win in this feature. If a Scatter appears, you’ll activate the Chaos Spins feature.

Chaos Spins

The Chaos Spins feature is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters anywhere during a base game spin, with 8, 10 or 12 free spins awarded, respectively. In the base game, the Necromancer may slam his staff to add Scatters to the reels to help you trigger the Chaos Spins: this can only happen on losing spins.

Set in a twisted realm that takes place on a 7x5 grid with Scatter Pays, your aim is to collect up to 26 Mystery Skull symbols, which uncover coin prizes.  You’ll notice there is a 3x3 block in the middle of the grid, which will reveal blanks or Ghoul Activators.

With Mystery Skulls remaining sticky for the feature, a Ghoul Activator landing will see the Mystery Skulls activate: they reveal a matching symbol or the Necromancer’s Coin Toss. Ghoul Activators contain multipliers up to 10x: if multiple Ghoul Activators land, their multiplier values multiply each other. 3 10x Ghoul Activators will lead to a 1000x multiplier. A Scatter can land, which award 1 extra free spin each time.

Necromancer’s Coin Toss

The Necromancer’s Coin Toss feature can be triggered from the base game and 2 other bonus features. Each Mystery Skull symbol will reveal:

• Coin: worth up to 1,000 x your total bet.
• Monocle of Doom: targets a Coin and doubles its value up to 5 times.
• Soul Collector: Collects all Coin values on the screen to its position and resets all other Coins, with a new respin awarded. If a new Soul Collector lands, it absorbs the previous and resets the Coin Toss again.
• Inferno Staff: shoots out the value it initially lands with ranging up to 50x once to all Coins in view.
• Ghoul Tonic: targets a Ghoul Activator and boosts its multiplier up to 9x.

Upgrade Spins & Bonus Buy

Not available to UK players, there are Upgrade Spins and Bonus Buy options. With the Bonus Buy options, the RTP goes up to 96.5%. Below are all the details: ,

For starters, I did a little excited that the Necromancer’s Gate slot was a follow-on from the Money Train series. Once I got over that disappointment, I was pleasantly surprised with the gameplay. The graphics are good enough with dark magic and mystique in abundance. It did remind me of Play ‘n GO’s Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead, a little.

With the Mystery Respin feature, up to 16 cursed skulls will be summoned onto the reels. Only triggered by a Ghoul Activator on reel 3, a multiplier up to 10x can apply. What you want is a Scatter to land as this triggers the Chaos Spins feature: played on a 7x5 grid with Scatter Pays, you aim to land as many skulls as possible. Up to 3 Ghoul Activators can land, each with a multiplier up to 10x, which can combine up to 1000x!

My favourite is the Necromancer’s Coin Toss feature. With Coins up to 1,000 x bet landing, the other modifiers can double Coin values up to 5 times, collect Coin values and resets other Coins, boosts Coin values and boost Ghoul Activator multipliers up to 9x.

With 25,000 x bet max win potential, Necromancer’s Gate combines respins, free spins, Scatter Pays, instant coin prizes and multipliers to great effect. Whilst the graphics could have done with a little more detail, I like the way the various mechanics and bonus features combine to offer a unique slot game well worthy of spinning.
