Character Symbols

On any base game spin, 1 of 3 character symbols can land. Paying Scatter style (i.e. anywhere in view), they are worth:

• Cheezy: 3, 4 or 5 pays 3, 9 or 30 x bet

Towel Reveal

When 3 or more of the same character symbol lands in view, the Towel Reveal feature may be triggered. Each character symbol can reveal a multiplier hidden under its towel ranging from 2x to 1000x. If several multipliers are revealed, the values are combined.

Bronus

The Bronus feature is triggered by landing 3 Bronus Scatters anywhere during a base game spin. With 5 free spins awarded, more than 1 type of character symbol can appear on any free spin.

However, a random character is chosen as the current champion, as he carries the championship belt. If more than 3 character symbols appear and multiple types are in view, a fight begins. Here is what happens:

• The current champion always fights.
• If there are 2 character types, they fight each other.
• If 3 character types are present, the champion first fights 1 of the characters. The winner then fights the remaining character type.

Each fighter begins with 3, 4, 5 or 6 hearts: this depends on 1, 2, 3 or 4 fighter symbols are on the reels. The championship belt contains a multiplier displayed on the jumbotron above the reels.

When the fight begins, a random fighter is chosen to attack. If he is successful, the opponent loses 1 heart. If the attack is blocked, nothing happens and a new fighter is selected to act.

If the current champion lands a successful hit, the belt multiplier increases 1 step on the jumbotron ladder. When a fighter runs out of hearts, they are knocked out.

If the champion wins, the Finish Him feature may activate: this grants a random number of extra multiplier steps. If the champion is knocked out and loses, the opponent takes over the championship belt and becomes the new champion.

Finally, the final winning character replaces all other character symbols present before the fight. The belt multiplier is applied to the paytable win of the remaining champion character. Look out for Heart +1 symbols as these award extra free spins.

Super Bronus

If you see 3 Bronus Scatters plus 1 Super Bronus Scatter, you’ll activate the Super Bronus feature. It works like the standard feature but with 10 free spins instead.  

The Store

The Mortal Bromance slot is the 13^th game by Shady Lady and it doesn’t disappoint. Satirical and controversial, it focuses on the much-publicised relationships between the larger-than-life figures. Cheeky and tongue-in-cheek, these ‘strong men’ try and assert their power and dominance over the other characters.

The base game is pretty standard but I like how Shady Lady has introduced Scatter pays for the 3 character symbols. The key to big wins in the base game is the Towel Reveal feature as each character can reveal a multiplier up to 1000x when they drop their towel and flash their bits.

In the Bronus free spins, the characters battle it out in the boxing ring with successful hits increasing the multiplier on the jumbotron. To initiate a fight, you need at least 3 characters on the reels with only the champion increasing the multiplier (when he lands hits on his opponent).

If you land plenty of characters, the multiplier can increase substantially, especially if you activate the Finish Him feature and move further along the jumbotron. In the Super Bronus feature, you get 5 extra free spins but I found the Heart +1 symbol to be key in landing big payouts.

With 20,000 x bet max wins, Mortal Bromance is hilarious, controversial and compelling. I like how Shady Lady has introduced a fight mechanic to build up the multiplier as well as making you chuckle along the way. Despite your opinions of these 3 big egos, you will inevitably find yourself rooting for Cheezy as he offers the bigger payouts.
