Duel with Death

Landing 5 low-value symbols that spell out the word ‘DEATH’ horizontally across a row will trigger the Duel with Death feature.

Triggering a respin with 3 lives displayed on a Life Meter, 1 Death DuelReel expands to cover reels 2, 3 and 4 during the respin. A duel between Death and the player occurs. With the player starting with a 5x multiplier, Death begins with a random multiplier from 2x up to 100x.

If Deaths wins a duel, the player loses 1 life and another duel is triggered on the same Death DuelReel. If the player wins a duel, they collect the multiplier from Death and it gets added to its existing multiplier, with another duel triggered on the same Death DuelReel. On the next duel, the player displays the combined multiplier from the previous duel.

Duels on the Death DuelReel continue until the player loses all 3 lives. Once all lives are lost, paying and VS symbols can land on reels 1 and 5. Any DuelReels are handled and the player’s multiplier is applied to all wins connected to the Death DuelReel.

Death Becomes You, as expected from Hacksaw, comes with 3 free spins modes. There are triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 FS Scatters, respectively.

In the Meet Your Maker feature, you begin with 10 free spins. Working like the base game, there is a higher chance of VS symbols landing and triggering the Duel with Death feature. 2 or 3 FS Scatters will give you 2 or 4 extra free spins, respectively.

The Drop Dead feature starts with 3 lives. The reels spin and award wins until the DuelReels feature is triggered. When a DuelReel is triggered and the player loses a duel, 1 life is consumed. In the Epic Death feature, you get 5 lives. The Duel with Death feature triggers on the first spin, with 5 lives awarded. After each duel, paying and VS symbols can land on reels 1 and 5. Any DuelReels are handled and the player’s multiplier is applied to all wins connect to the Death DuelReel. Once you run out of lives, the feature ends.

The Death Becomes You slot is another in a long line of games from Hacksaw Gaming that focuses on death (following the likes of Dynasty of Death, Deal with Death and Life and Death. Visually, the black, white and grey tones compliment the splashes of red. Add in the intense soundtrack and it feels like a psychological thriller from the off.

In terms of the gameplay, the focus is on VS symbols and DuelReels. VS symbols expand to give you DuelReels: this triggers a duel between 2 duellists with a multiplier up to 100x for the winning duellist that applies to any wins the DuelReel is part of it. Several DuelReels will see multiplier values combined if part of the same win.

Whilst the above has been seen before, Hacksaw Gaming has ramped things up with the Duel with Death feature: you’ll benefit from 1 Death DuelReel that covers the 3 middle reels. If the player wins the duel, the player collects Death’s multiplier (up to 100x) and adds it to its own multiplier. With 3 lives, you continue until Death wins 3 duels and you run out of lives.
