Fear and Flame

When you land 3 FS Scatters during a base game spin, you’ll trigger the Fear and Flame feature with 10 free spins. Wrath and Ruin

The Wrath and Ruin feature is activated by landing 4 FS Scatters during the base game. You begin with 3 refilling lives, which reset back to 3 when any Disc Multiplier or Battle Horse symbol lands.

Above each reel, there is a Reel Multiplier starting at 1x. With only dead symbols, Disc Multipliers and Battle Horses landing, below is what each of the symbols does:

• Green Disc: Add their revealed value (1x to 100x) to the Reel Multiplier on the reel they land on, once.
• Epic Green Disc: Add their value or all Reel Multipliers (between 1x and 100x).
• Red Disc: Multiply their revealed value (2x to 20x) by the Reel Multiplier for the reel they land on, once.
• Epic Red Disc: Multiply all Reel Multipliers by 2x to 20x.

When you run out of lives/spins, all Reel Multipliers are added together to determine your final payout.

Ares Ascends

If you land 5 FS Scatters during a base game spin, you’ll play the Ares Ascends feature. With 3 refilling lives awarded, the feature has the same mechanics as the Wrath and Ruin feature. Additionally, you are guaranteed a full grid of Disc Multipliers and 1 Battle Horse from the offset.

Army of Ares is a fierce ancient Greek battle with wild reel multipliers, added wilds, free spins, and reel multipliers for up to 15,000 x bet max wins. It’s not entirely original but Hacksaw has packaged it up superbly.

Superbly designed, the Army of Ares slot takes you straight into a fierce battle. I particular like the soundtrack which sets the tone beautifully. It does have an epic feel to it.

With regards to the gameplay, Wrath Reels come with multipliers up to 300x: they also add up to 5 wilds to random positions to give you a higher chance of landing a big win. In the Fear and Flame free spins, the added wilds come with multipliers up to 100x.

Then you have the Wrath and Ruin feature, which begins with 3 refilling lives. With only Disc Multipliers and Battle Horses landing, they add their value to the Reel Multiplier on the reel they appear on: epic versions add their values to all Reel Multipliers. I particularly like the Epic Red Disc symbol as it multiplies all Reel Multipliers by up to 20x. The Ares Ascends feature is the same but you are sure to get a grid full of Disc Multipliers and 1 Battle Horse from beginning.

With 15,000 x bet max win potential, Army of Ares doesn’t offer anything innovative or new. Actually, it’s virtually the same as the features found in Chaos Crew 3, which offers 30,000 x bet max wins. You’ll also find wild reels with multipliers in games such as Miami Mayhem, Dual at Dawn and Life and Death.

In conclusion, Army of Ares looks fantastic and uses mechanics/bonus features found in other Hacksaw titles. It is not their best game but a worthy addition to the Greek mythology slots genre.
