Many slots fans are getting poor payouts or second-rate sites. Wrong choices cost you. I'll match you with the best games and platforms for your style, so you get better value and variety.
Slot provider Relax Gaming will be releasing the Bill & Coin 2 Mummy Mischief slot on the 2nd of September 2025. I spoke with Martin Stålros, CEO at Relax, in a Questions and Answers interview regarding how to successfully create a slot sequel.
For context, Relax slots are available to play at the overwhelming majority of UK-licensed slot sites, with hundreds of games available. With plenty of slot sequels in their portfolio, the Q&A looks at how Relax has improved player engagement and kept momentum for its games going.
Q: Relax has enjoyed a string of fantastic titles, how do you decide which games to create sequels for?
MS: “There can be several different reasons. There's a fanbase to the game, there can be good game ideas that didn’t make it into the first game and some time it could be for a game that maybe didn’t became a hit in its first version, but where we found something interesting in the data that we believe was worth a sequel.”
Q: Relax Gaming has a strong reputation for creating successful sequels such as Money Train, what would you attribute that success to?
MS: “Whilst we do have a really strong reputation for our sequels, I think it’s important to note that we don’t just create sequels for the sake of creating a sequel. Any new release needs to be backed up with good ideas alongside new features and mechanics in the game that we think elevates the previous version. If you can show me a game that advances the narrative and stands out for bringing new things to the table, then we’re always going to be happy to make that happen.”

Q: Are there any benefits towards creating multiple game sequels, as opposed to just creating standalone IP with each and every game?
MS: “Yes of course, there will be some sort of proof of concept in the first version that we believe in. And for the players we normally are able to make an even better version of a game they already liked, so you hopefully get closer to perfection when you make an iteration. We’ve seen success with the likes of Money Train and Temple Tumble, and as long as that approach continues to work, we’ll continue to go in that direction.”
Q: Do you as a studio find it difficult to maintain a high level of creativity while keeping all of the core elements of the original games that players love?
MS: “At Relax, we’re extremely fortunate to be blessed with studios filled with talent and teams that push each other to create the best games possible.
Our studios can work with a creative freedom and bounce ideas that resonate with players – the possibilities are endless when it comes to our studio talent!
Our studio epitomises ‘driving differentiation’ and we are constantly looking to push beyond boundaries to create games we can all be proud of.”
Q: What can you tell us about Bill & Coin 2: Mummy Mischief, and how does it differ from the first title?
MS: “It’s a natural progression from the original Bill & Coin and we have earmarked Bill & Coin 2 for our ‘Game of the Year’ title for 2025.
Bill & Coin have travelled to Ancient Egypt in search of discovering the mummy’s treasure but have awoken the mummy who isn’t best pleased, and they are joined by Dicey the Dog and of course, the mummy.
We’ve kept all the things that players and operators loved and made it bigger and better with the addition of two new characters and exciting features to enhance gameplay.
We’re super confident that Bill & Coin 2 will be a hit and have high hopes that it can go on to become one of our best ever titles at Relax.
Added new Bonus modes including Book-type expanding symbol bonus round, Sticky Coins - but also kept the multiplier ladder which was a fan favourite from the original. If that wasn’t quite enough excitement, we’ve also added the Super Bonus which takes all three bonus modes into one!
Dicey the dog acts as one of the multiplier features by rolling itself across the reels, we’ve added coins to the reels which add to the tumble win and can also be added to the multiplier – which adds to the win potential and elevates the overall experience.”
Q: Where can you see the Bill & Coin franchise going from here?
MS: “Whenever we make sequels, trilogies or a series of games, it’s vital that we make it even better than the last, that it’s a natural progression and ultimately, that’s what players want.
The main thing now is that we hope players enjoy everything that has made Bill & Coin a success and that they explore all the new features and fun additions that have been added to Bill & Coin 2 to make it bigger and better from the original.”
