Bookies now offer odds that Elon Musk will sell X at some point in 2024

Bookmakers are now offering betting specials around Elon Musk's 2024 with the South African businessman likely to be a big name once again throughout the year.

Musk is always in the news for something that he is either saying or doing and it's no surprise to see him in the news this week with his company X reportedly losing value drastically since he purchased it.

Mutual fund giant Fidelity has marked down the value of its shares in X Holdings saying that X is now worth 71.5% less than it was at the time of purchase by Musk.

Betting specials now say that Musk could sell X at some point in 2024 with the latest odds at 12/1 for him to cut his losses and sell the company that he bought for $44bn back in October 2022.

Odds from William Hill at the start of the year suggested a 7.7% implied probability that Musk sells the company rather than keeping it but there are no massive signs of a sale currently.

Musk could well decide to change the name of X back to Twitter

The downfall of X looked to kick off when Musk decided to rebrand Twitter to the new name several months after he purchased the company in 2022.

Musk's rebrand has started his idea of X not being just a standard social media brand like it was when it was Twitter, but the start of a new bigger business plan.

The Businessman could decide that he made a mistake in the rebrand of the company to X and bookies go 7/1 that he reverts the rebrand and goes back to Twitter in 2024.
