Bookmakers are now offering betting odds that an English player wins the Ballon d'Or in 2024 with a massive year expected for English players ahead of the European Championships.

Only four English players have ever won the prestigious Ballon d'Or with Michael Owen the last English player to win the award back in 2001.

23 years on we could see an English player win the award this year with the betting market for the winner having both Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane in the top three.

Bet365's latest betting odds say there's an 11/8 chance that an English person wins the 2024 Ballon d'Or with those odds giving an implied probability of 42% that it happens.

The only other country that has this specific market offered is Brazil, with odds of 16/1 that a Brazilian player will win the Ballon d'Or this year.

Jude Bellingham is the outright favourite to win the award according to latest odds

Jude Bellingham is the current favourite to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or with the English midfielder fully hitting the ground running after moving to Real Madrid last summer.

Bellingham wasn't even born when Michael Owen won the award back in 2001 and 23 years on from that will be looking to win the award in what could be a huge year for him.

The midfielder should play a massive part in Gareth Southgate's England squad this summer at the Euro 2024 tournament where England go into it as favourites.

French striker Kylian Mbappe is second favourite in the Ballon d'Or winner market and he could well be the man who leads his country to winning the European Championship this year.

Mbappe is one of the biggest talents in football and 2024 could be a big year for him with a potential transfer to Real Madrid also rumoured for the player.
