Tina Fey leads the way to present the 50th Anniversary special of Saturday Night Live
Tina Fey is the leader in the betting market to host the 50th Anniversary special of Saturday Night Live with the show officially confirmed for February 2025.
Fey is part of the SNL alumni and was a cast member and head writer on the show from 1997 to 2006 before she then left to move onto other ventures in her career.
Lorne Michaels is the creator and producer of Saturday Night Live and he still remains as showrunner on the program and he has name-dropped Fey in the past to replace him in that role.
It may well be then that Fey presents the 50th Anniversary SNL special before taking over from Michaels as the head of the show going forward after the show turns 50.
Odds from betting sites put Fey as the 2/1 favourite in the market to present the 50th Anniversary Special with Steve Martin following up in the betting odds.
SNL 50th Anniversary Special Host | Odds | Probability |

Lorne Michaels | 5/1 | 16.7% |

What the expert says...
NBC announced that there will be a three-hour primetime special to celebrate SNL's 50th Birthday
Michaels previously told Entertainment Tonight that he was already planning for the 50th Anniversary Special as far back as the 2023 Emmys.
“We’re doing the 50th anniversary show in February of ’25, so I will definitely be there for that, and definitely be there until that, and sometime before that we’ll figure out what we’re gonna do,”
The SNL special will air in America on Sunday, Feb. 16 2025 and last for three hours over what NBC says will be a “celebratory weekend” across their network around the show.
Lorne Michaels still produces Saturday Night Live
Lorne Michaels has yet to confirm if he will step down from his role as the show's producer and showrunner but he has already though about who will replace him.
Michaels spoke highly of Tina Fey saying, “It could easily be Tina, but you know, there are a lot of people who are there now who are also, you know [could be good],” he said. “Tina’s brilliant and great at everything. She’s a very important person in my life.”
Over the 50 years, SNL has earned a total of 314 Emmy nominations with a record 84 won which puts it 25 ahead of second place Game of Thrones in the all-time list.
