Betting odds say that SAG will end their strike first with latest odds at 4/9
Tensions have been building in Hollywood for months as discontent among actors and crew members have grown over issues related to working conditions, pay disparities, and representation.
Despite massive profits and record-breaking numbers across Hollywood in recent years, many frontline works have felt that their contributions have been ignored.
Strikes are taking place from both the SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and WGA (Writers Guild of America) around broad Hollywood disputes.
Bookmakers are offering odds on which strike will end first with the latest betting odds suggesting that SAG's strike, which has gone on since July 14, will be the first to stop.
Which Hollywood Strike Will End First?
|
Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
SAG | 4/9 | 69.2% |
WGA | 7/4 | 36.4% |
SAG & WGA on same day | 11/2 | 15.4% |
What the expert says...
WGA's odds of ending first are 7/4 with that strike lasting nearly 3 months so far
The WGA strike has been ongoing now for nearly 3 months with the strike kicking off on May 2 2023 and there are no signs of it ending although big studios can terminate production deals with writers after 90 days.
This strike has lasted for 91 days and the 2007-08 WAG strike lasted 93 so if it was to end it would surely be around the same time now.
Some of the causes for the strike include a lack of agreement on a new contract and poor compensation for writers from residuals due to streaming figures.
Further entertainment betting is available
Entertainment betting has grown further and further in recent months with betting not just available on strike action in the industry but on actual shows that take place too.
Production on some of the big shows and films will have been set back with the strikes taking place currently and we may well see releases slow right down due to them.
Hulu series Only Murders in the Building looks to still be coming out on time for it's latest series and there are odds around that show including who will be the killer.
