Barbara Walker is the 6/4 favourite to win the 2023 Turner Prize

Betting is still available for who will win the 2023 Turner Prize and it is Barbara Walker who remains the clear favourite to win the prestigious award later this year.

Walker is nominated for her latest presentation 'Burden of Proof' which was on show at Sharjah Biennial 15 in the UAE up until the start of June and bookies make it 6/4 to win the Turner Prize.

The latest betting market from Betway suggests that there's a 40% chance of Walker winning the award in December ahead of the other three contenders for Turner Prize.

Ghislaine Leung is the second favourite in the betting market at 5/2, with Jesse Darling and Rory Pilgrim third and fourth in the odds list respectively.

The four nominees for this year's Turner Prize award were announced way back in April and all the nominees will have their work displayed at the Towner Eastbourne in East Sussex.

The displays will be on show from tomorrow, September 28, all the way through to 14 April 2024 with the winner of the prize receiving £25,000.

The four nominees and their work are:

  • Jesse Darling - No Medals, No Ribbons and Enclosures
  • Ghislaine Leung - Fountains
  • Rory Pilgrim - RAFTS
  • Barbara Walker - Burden of Proof

When and where will the Turner Prize take place this year?

The 2023 Turner Prize ceremony is set to grace the elegant Winter Gardens in Eastbourne on December 5th.

Following this celebration, the winning artist's captivating creation will remain on display at Towner Eastbourne, marking a significant milestone - the Gallery's remarkable 10-year anniversary since its relocation from its original site in Eastbourne's Old Town.

In 2022, Veronica Ryan claimed the prestigious Turner Prize with her extraordinary series of artworks titled "Custard Apple, Breadfruit, and Soursop, Along a Spectrum.
