- Current BBC presenter Mark Chapman is the 6/4 favourite to take over from Jeff Stelling as Soccer Saturday presenter
- Julian Warren, who covers Jeff Stelling for midweek Soccer Specials and times when he is ill, is second favourite at 3/1
- Eilidh Barbour, Kelly Cates and Hayley McQueen are three women presenters who could see a gender change for the show's main presenter
Mark Chapman is the 6/4 favourite to take over from Jeff Stelling
BBC presenter Mark Chapman is the bookmakers favourite to take over from Jeff Stelling as host of the ever-popular Soccer Saturday programme on Sky.
Stelling, 66, announced he'll be stepping down from presenting the show after 27 years of presenting, with the first episode in 1994.
Reports in the Daily Mail suggest that Chapman has already been approached to take over from Stelling and talks have taken place between both parties.
Next Soccer Saturday Presenter | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Mark Chapman | 6/4 | 40% |
Julian Warren | 3/1 | 25% |
David Jones | 4/1 | 20% |
Pete Graves | 4/1 | 20% |
Eilidh Barbour
|
9/2 | 18.2% |
Hayley McQueen | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Kelly Cates | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Laura Woods | 6/1 | 14.3% |
David Jones is third favourite in the market and is already a regular on TV screens presenting Sky's coverage of the Premier League.
Sky could well keep it in house and one of Warren or Jones would be frontrunners if that was the case.
Julian Warren second favourite in market to replace Stelling
Julian Warren is 3/1 second favourite in the market to replace Jeff Stelling on a full time basis as Soccer Saturday presenter.
Warren currently presents Soccer Special, the midweek version of the show, which focuses on midweek football including Champions League games.
The Sky presenter also usually replaces Jeff Stelling on international weekend's when Premier League football isn't on and those moments when Stelling is ill.
Pete Graves is also a presenter on Sky Sports News who features in the betting market at odds of 4/1, with Graves a regular on the Sky channel.
Eilidh Barbour, Kelly Cates and Hayley McQueen lead the way for a woman presenter in the role
Eilidh Barbour leads the way for a female presenter on Soccer Saturday at odds of 9/2, with Kelly Cates and Hayley McQueen just behind at 5/1.
Barbour has been a regular presenter on the BBC for their sporting coverage, as well as featuring on Amazon Prime Video for their Premier League coverage.
Hayley McQueen, similar to Pete Graves who we talked about earlier, presents on Sky Sports News regularly on a weekly basis and could easily slot into the presenting role.
Kelly Cates presents coverage of the Premier League on Sky Sports at the moment, so could be an option again if the network wanted to keep their new presenter in house.
